Randy Rahe's contract extension

This is fantastic news. Any doubt about Rahe not being able to "win the big one" has been effectively quashed over the past three seasons. We are lucky he's stuck around this long. :notworthy:

Good for Randy and the university. I feel it was kinda silly of the article to compare what Randy makes to Utah's head coach but good job by Brett.

Being the worlds biggest D-Bag is the only requirement for the UU job and Randy doesn't qualify. They have the right guy for the job. We have the right MAN for our job. I hope he stays until he retires. :coffee:

Awesome, glad to know Rahe is going to be here for quite some time.

The new deal was in the works while another school made serious overtures for Rahe’s services, which he and Bovee both indicated would have included a substantial pay raise

I wonder which school was courting him?

“Stew Morrill gave me this advice a long time ago: Never take a job for money. You take a job for the fit for you and your family — is it a place where you feel like you can be successful?” Rahe explained.

Never really been the biggest Morrill fan, but that is great advice, and one more coaches should seriously consider.

From what I have heard, the University of Portland offered him a 3 year 800K contract.

As for the extension...I think it is brilliant. My only issue is that Randy has lost a lot of OCC games that he shouldn't have and I don't like losing in state games; especially to uvu.

BY THE WAY...Garside, you kinda missed on the liljenquist story. I think it would be funny for you to ask for a random blood and urine sample from liljenquist. I wouldn't be surprised by the outcome, but some readers would. :o

I wouldn't, I played football in High School with kids who did steroids, performance enhancers are unfortunately apart of all sports now. Too bad.

 Thanks for the laugh!

Congrats to Randy for getting the extension. 8 years! That's almost unheard of. Last year after the UVU loss the board lit up with all the Fire Rahe talk... That seems to have calmed down now after a Big Sky championship, NCAA berth, and a player who is going to the NBA.

My favorite thing about Rahe is that he is such a classy and down to earth guy. He is a great ambassador for the university, and really prepares these kids for life. He seems to have more of the old school mentality. We should count ourselves fortunate that he has been at Weber State so long. He knows what he's doing.

I personally do not believe that coach should have been fired last year after we dropped a few inexcusable games. But I was in favor of a shake up with our assistants. Last year had some real head scratchers. We were only out played in 3 games last year. To get a better seed and a first round tournament win, we need to beat USU, BYU and other close OOC games.

I really like Coach Rahe. I have struggled with the excuses the last few years, because I always believed that he was a no excuses kind of guy. I am not sure we can find anyone that would be better for our program.
