Real reason UNI got to host over Weber.....according to CIT

Because UNI has a higher rip and sos, ok then, I want to hear their excuse as to why the team with the best record and the highest RPI last year was forced to the road in the 2nd round last year :coffee:

And I would also like to know why a team that was 17-15 before the tournament started got to host the entire tournament last year.

If I had a twitter account, those are the 2 questions I would ask.

Good to see Mitch Strohman on our side.

At this point, it really doesn't matter. The CIT is a relatively young event. I'm sure that it will refine its methods as it matures. Personally, I like the non-bracketed format. It makes for a little intrigue from game to game and makes game preparation a little less of a factor. :thumb:

Last year is scoffed at the idea that USU could stay on their home court and then claim to be any kind of champion. I was thrilled that Mercer knocked them off (of course I'm usually thrilled when anyone wins in Logan).

I love the challenge to win this game on the road. I think for a team to be a champion, they have to be tested. I'm sure the CIT will get better at how they run the tournament as it matures, but every team should be forced to go and win at least one game the road at some point in their format. You can't just favor a single team with home court advantage throughout a tournament. That format will not create very wide interest.

I'm excited for us to prove ourselves again. We've been a good road team and winning this one big challenge then brings us back home to, what I think will be, a big, rowdy crowd. It's a challenge I think this team is up to.

The only thing I can think of that wouldn't make me question their fairness is maybe Weber administration couldn't pay the money last year... To my understanding Air Force turned down the option to host this year. Maybe WSU was the same last year...

Pretty sure WSU's RPI last year was in the high 60's. Maybe 68 or 69.

I found some footage of Weber confronting the CIT over scheduling conflicts.

Of course, we have an argument to host. So does UNI. If the circumstance were turned, I'm sure they would be crying the blues, as well. To me, it's a 50/50. You are right either way and you are wrong either way. It is what it is. We just need to go on the road and pull out a win. We can do this. Would it be easier at our place? Surely. However, as someone has already posted, It would be lame to win out on your home floor, having never been tested on the road. Like USU last year. Even lamer to loose on your home floor, in the championship game. If UNI wins out, great for them, but it should have a notation attached to it saying "Never tested on the road." :thumb:

I have a suggestion for an improvement in the CIT's process. Initiate a rule that all, final 4, teams will be scheduled for at least one road game and let your highest rated teams pick when they want that to be. That way you can eliminate the home sweep scenario. :thumb:

Or, and this may be a novel idea as it is only used by professional sports, they can treat East and West as two different conferences with independent seeding and tell us what the seeding is. Then they can keep adjusting the matchups as the tourney progresses to put the lowest remaining seed at the top remaining seed. This keeps the fans from feeling "in the dark."

And to appease all those who want a win on the road, the second round could all be held at two neutral sites (one East and one West). This would give the tournament atmosphere, requiring fans to travel, and removing the home court advantage across the board.

he is saying we only hosted AF because they couldn't but no answer as to why usu hosted through out from the person that asked him.

this must mean 1. geography to find the pair 2. then higher rpi hosts (if they choose to accept).

maybe each year has different rules for example last year we had the highest RPI in the bracket and went to LMU in the 2nd round.
