Reality Check

Reality Check. Expectations, like mine, were the early optimism would end with the four "big boy basketball" games in Dec. Some valid excuses might be there, but it's the way the Wildcats are losing most often to this competition that's so disappointing. There is a gap in overall team talent depth between the upper mid level/high majors & the low mid's like Weber State. History has shown the Wildcat wins vs. the higher level teams are few & far in-between. But just competing OK for a few segments in the game & losing by wide double digits is inexcusable to some of us.

With the current status of Weber State basketball, the bar is set at being successful in Big Sky regular season play period. As long as the Wildcats end up in the top half of BSC standings, that is apparently satisfactory to the administration & the average 4K (& declining) avid fans who attend home games

Sad, it's lackluster to some of us, but it's the reality...so avid fans, enjoy the rest of the season. But it's "BS" to some us to claim great, great, great...until a Weber State team can beat a higher level play opponent, at least once in a great while. Right now, WSU glory is existing on PAST wins history...that soon wears off.

Hey, to quell early season glee hype, maybe Coach Rahe should go back to scheduling USU at the beginning of the season. BYU will soon likely be dropping or just playing WSU in Provo. Hopefully Utah Coach Smith will invite the Wildcats to play at the Huntsman Ctr. in SLC.

This post isn't calling for anyone's firing & we all should know that coaches, administrators don't read this forum, it's just letting off steam to the fan forum, "preaching to the choir" from an angry alumnus. Sorry, tired of the excuses & acceptance of mediocrity. I'll stop whining (& posting) on basketball now this season. It's like the more things change, the more some things stay the same...saying. So Merry Christmas to all ! The Holidays are at hand, enjoy.

Totally agree with you. I’m not one to be fine with hanging with in state rivals or bigger conference teams for a second half after a stomp down in the first half and feeling great about it.

I don’t think many fans are either looking at attendance numbers…keep this up and they can move back to the Swenson Gym.

Well enough of that. Merry Christmas to everyone!
