Red White Game

Not sure if it helps but the game is live on SWX. Hope our out of town fans can tune in. Hear some of our die hards fans are tailgating before the game today so we're heading out early.

Ring Ceremony was after the game. You can always rely on Renard to post some pics to facebook. :D

(I edited them together)

As for the game... RBs and CBs impressed me. A lot. I think TJ Lee and Ronald Baines have earned themselves the starting CB spots. Both looked fantastic, making tackles and swatting/intercepting/returning the ball. Mario looked real good, as did Beaumonte. Daniel Johnson had a real nice play down the sideline for a long TD. Bronson is a hard runner but leaves something to be desired, IMO. We'll see how he does this season. It could be that the center of our D-line is just so dominant... that's where Bronson is usually sent. Pulu and Renard both had sacks and looked unstoppable. I don't know if it was just the stiff wind or the pressure that the D-line was bringing, but the QBs could've had a better day. Overall though, I like where we are right now, as long as we don't become complacent and keep grinding away through the summer. September 3rd can't get here fast enough! GO EAGLES!

Defensive line looked good. :o Thing is, spring Ball just isn't that great a metric to determine where we're at as a team, IMO. It's all about what the players do from now until summer practice that'll determine what kind of season we're going to have. I think our running game is going to be really solid this season. All of them have looked good at various times during Spring Ball. Bronson may have looked like he was struggling a little at different times, but remember he's just getting into his groove at EWU. He'll be fine. I still maintain that he has the potential to be a really good RB in the Big Sky.

I expected Williams, Pulu, and Ena to be dominant, and there is also the Johnson twins who will be there leading the defense, but what really surprised and impressed me was the secondary most notably TJ, Shane, Ronald, and especially safety Allen Brown... Last yr you could see the D improve and come together week by week, and looks like it's rolled right into the offseason. The D is looking to be really strong this yr!

our defensive front four are going to wreak havoc on the Big Sky next season. hopefully this will take some pressure off of a young secondary

With how good the secondary looked yesterday, I think it's going to make them flourish. Getting pressure up the middle is gonna force QBs to get rid of the ball before they want to, and make mistakes, which is what happened in the Spring Game.

Even if our offense takes a step back without Taiwan (although I don't think it will... Mario is looking real good, and averaging 5-6 yards a carry it seems), our defense is taking a step forward. They're going to play an even bigger part in games this year. With how dominant our D-line is gonna be this year, it makes me giddy thinking about all the teams in the Sky that are breaking in new QBs... Weber, Montana, NAU, ISU, and I think maybe one other.

Corners, db's, safety's, all looked good, and that was against arguable the best receiving corps in the BS. We've known the Eagles have the talent, our coaching staff is as good as any so it up to the kids. The next 120 days will determine the success of this team.
It's a great time to be an Eagle!!

What's scary is they will probably be even better next season. We lose a speed guy in Gannt, but Mitchell looks legit and will be just another option along with the already outstanding receivers we do have. I was watching a few highlights the other day and one thing I really noticed is how well our receivers block down field. If you watch a lot of Taiwan's long runs more often than not either Kaufman or Edwards are well down the field making good blocks. And Kaufman is a big enough kid that a lot of times he put's DB's on their behinds.
