At what point do the coaches start burning them? Are there any True Freshmen that could contribute immediately in some of these positions where we're really banged up?

I'd be surprised to see the coaches burn any more redshirts, regardless of how many guys are dinged up. Coach B did mention Bekkering, a LB, as a possibility.

We are getting pretty thin on the O Line at this point, and believe it or not, WR. Sblendorio has a separated shoulder, and it sounds like he'll miss considerable time, plus Shaq Hill is done for the season. Phelps is out. No offense to the young guys that are stepping up, but none of the Freshman WR's that played tonight were up to the standard of an EWU starting WR, IMO. Stiles had a bunch of dropped balls...Webster looked just ok. I wonder if Dre Dorton or Jayson Williams could help us out.

There also seems to be a significant drop-off between our starting O tackles (both of whom are now out), and the backups.

When did you hear that about Hill?...I am sure he would get a white shirt if he already used his red shirt if That is the case.

What's wrong with DeBord? Also, I belive Curtis is expected back for Cal Poly.

But totally agree on the receivers... Stiles and Webster didnt seem able to make a difference.

Still, these injuries are getting a little ridiculous. We need to toughen up.

You have mentioned "toughening up" before. What do you mean? Are you suggesting that these injured players should play with injuries? Where is the line?

Oh, and "we" do not play the game anymore and have no basis to judge at what level of injury the athletes should play at.

A team that has perpetual injury problems may have an inherent problem. But Jeezus, no one is suggesting people are faking injuries.

Durability is just as much of an athletic trait as size, strength, speed, and stamina.

If we were going 250 across the OL, one would say we need to get bigger.
If our CBs couldn't stay with a WR on a fly route, one would say we need to get faster.
And when players can't make it through a series of games due to injuries, one would say we need to get tougher.

Not exactly rocket science... Just an observation of an area of opportunity.

Is Terrance Grady hurt?

Never seen a player with his talent who makes more negative plays, cringe every time his number is called. That said, didn't see him after the dropped third down pass either.

Hope the team gets healthier with the bye week.

Debord was knocked out of the game with a concussion along with a couple of other players whose names escape me.

Not to say a concussion is ever a good thing, but seldom does it ever keep a player out for two weeks or more. Hopefully we see him again for the Cal Poly game.

A few thoughts...

OL:
At this point, I'd be surprised...even shocked if we burn any OL redshirts. Thew plan all along here is that they want this OL group together for the next 4 years. We could have 2-3 four year starters on OL from this group. They are special and it was decided long ago that they would redshirt. The backup seniors and juniors will just have to handle filling in. The undersclassmen juniors are showing in the fill in rolls now if they can be the guy next year, so far none have shown enough to warrant be "handed" the starting role.

WR:
I expect to see lots more of Zach Eagle if he is healthy. Styles got a large role vs Sac state and it didn't go well.
IF we were to burn a redshirt, I think the guy is Dre Dorton, but frankle I think the plan the staff has is to keep this frosh group together. Even the RB's who ended up going active were a result of early summer injuries, and the staff really didn't have any choice with as much practice as #28 Moore and #31 Kimble missed.

Everytime I've spoken with the staff on the Offensive side they have stressed how much they like the frosh class and think it can be a huge part of the core next year.
