Reeder & possibly Dumas leaving

Why is Coach Best losing assistants? Personality clash or is this simply what happens to top programs?

It's what happens when you make it to championship games. I don't think Reeder had ties to the Northwest anyways.

Imagine what an assistant coach gets paid per hour when you take salary and divide by hours they put in throughout the year. Imagine most assistant coaches at FCS look to opportunities to move up the coaching ladder. Imagine assistant coaches at successful FCS programs(EWU) get more opportunities to move on to better positions in particular to FBS programs where the money/opportunities increase. Imagine our program will attract quality coaches looking to make said move. Imagine most of the coaches that leave EWU have moved onto FBS programs or perhaps OC/DC jobs at other FCS schools in hope of gaining more experience to move on. Game on....

Everything that Obzerver said!
Who wouldn't want these jobs? Our Defense is set...our Offense is going to be just as good if not better with EB3 having kicked the tires last year...VERY ATTRACTIVE JOBS for any up and coming coach! Just glad this happened after signing day.

Agreed on other programs poaching top assistants but I cant remember a time when ewu lost this many assistants during a single off season.

Yep, comes with success. If we can deal with the turnover, it will attract more up-and-comers who see EWU as a good launching point. It's tough, but raises the profile of a coaching destination (or at least a waypoint.)

Even better news is that I suspect it would take one hell of an offer to lure the head guy away.

Did Coach BB lose assistants after the 2010 season?

Coach Best now has to replace both coordinators and their recruiting coordinator.

Ouch

I'm pretty sure Coach Best will eventually retire from Eastern, but in the meantime we can expect effective assistant coaches to advance to programs elsewhere. Personally, our position coaches are, by nature, highly competitive which accounts for their success and need to advance. Unless Coach Best finds a competitive, independently wealthy, gifted assistant, who loves Cheney and the area(a Mark Few), we will continue advancing our position coaches elsewhere based on their success producing great results at Eastern. We are blessed by the continuity that's been achieved based on great selections of EKG candidates. Coach Best says there's an Eastern DNA for players and it extends to our coaches. Go Eags!

Reeder was not hired as OC, he was just next man up when someone else bailed on short notice.
Dumas was picked up when Edwards left with BB, just because a guy is a good player does not make him a good coach
Cherokee may have been p-o'ed because he didn't get the DC job so he took a lateral move to a lesser program
Schmedding was here a long time but there was a lot of grumbling about our defense until Ena came on board.
We'll be OK

Without a doubt we'll be OK. Some seemed to believe there would be a huge drop-off when Coach Baldwin left. One think I love about Best....He will bring in someone with the correct mentality to keep this snowball rolling. Love our culture.

go eags!

Keep in mind Reeder stands to make 4x what he is making now. That’s hard for anyone to turn down. It’s just never realistic to think we can compete financially with some of these larger programs.

As for the next coach, who wouldn’t want to be our offensive coordinator? It’s a one way ticket up the ladder.

As mentioned earlier Bodie has no ties to the northwest, he is moving to the area he is from.
Graham Harrell made 275k, the entire asst salary pool @ North Texas is only 1,720,000 as compared to most Pac12 schools @ 3-5 million, but Conference USA is not a big money conference.

All in all it is a good move for him, IMO. I just hope he give Best and EWU credit for the opportunity to become a OC when he did.
Bodie will be co-coordinator.

The Boise State & North Texas jobs are promotions, how can you be a fan of college football and not know that?
A lateral move to Weber State or Richmond would indicate potential problems or personality clashes. Having said that, I think a move to North Texas (even with the new stadium) is a bad idea. It may be difficult to get promoted out of there.

Yes a move to FBS is upward, but there are good moves and not so good moves. Not to forget Graham Harrell former North Texas OC was offered the same position @ USC so the North Texas job was a good step to a better job.
Who is going to Weber or Richmond?

Good move for Reeder. Nothing wrong with getting paid for the effort. There are a lot more opportunities in that area as well should he at least maintain their offensive output and Littrell is a pretty good offensive mind whom he can learn from.
