Cat fight coming up in Pocatello! The ISU Bengals (5-2 BSC) have turned their football program around & are enjoying a successful year, most will say. The WSU Wildcats (2-5 BSC) are on a roll (2 straight wins) & desire to end their season on a positive win. Idaho State is definitely not an automatic W for Weber State this year & will want to stay in the battle for the FCS playoffs! Will the fur fly?! GO WILDCATS !!!

Well, the Cats are headed up to the Lolt arena. I wouldn't exactly say that the Cats are cooking right now, but they do have a two game winning streak going on right now. Would be great to end the season with a W and winning streak to help motivate and drive the team during the off season. Weber has to play a complete game to get the W. Idaho State is a very good football team. Defensively, the Cats will definitely be able to move the ball, and get some scores. The problem isn't scoring, but keeping the Bengals out of the endzone. Idaho State can really move the ball and has a lot of offensive weapons. Arias is a hell of a good QB and he is going to have a big game. Weber's best chance to win is by wining the turnover battle. Weber has to hold onto the ball.

Glad to see Coach Hill take a positive stance regarding his response on the NCAA ruling (at least publicly), he, his staff & the players deserve our full support. They have had to deal with a lot of negatives. Focus now is on Sat game vs. Bengals. Should be a good game. Hoping for a WILDCAT win!

:thumb: GO WEBER, finishing strong with plenty of momentum for next year! Besides, it's Idaho State, our true rival, not expanded BSC designated one.

So what does this game mean to ISU? Can they get into the playoffs with a win or is that dream toast for them because two of their 7 wins are against lower division opponents? So only 5 DI wins one win isn't going to get them to 7. Is this game just bragging rights?

Good question, sure it's for bragging rights, but I thought Idaho St is in a four-way tie for 1st with a 5-2 record? According to Garside @ SE, "Idaho State has plenty to play for, as a Big Sky Championship and a playoff berth are still possibilities for the team pending a victory." Don't know the rule on the lower division wins applied for playoffs. Wildcats can derail whatever with a win!!!!!

Stand corrected...standings are: EWU & MSU are tied for 1st at 6-1; ISU, UM, NAU are 5-2: CA-POLY is 5-3. Bengals lost to both EWU & MSU so a championship might be a stretch possibility, but with the expanded playoffs picture, don't 3-4 BSC teams make it in?

Weber has got to get more creative on 2nd or 3rd(especially) and short. They've shown all season they cant get an offensive line push to pack it in and run right at the D.

I hope WSU players and coaches are absolutely pissed off that ISU ran in that last second touchdown instead of running out the clock. What a kick in the nuts for WSU fans, we lose big to LSU in basketball and lose bigger to ISU. So frustrating.

I had assumed that ISU would just run the ball and run out the clock on that last drive, and was surprised when I saw that Kramer was determined to get another score. And for that I really do apologize; that kind of thing has happened in the past against ISU every now and then and it does make one upset. But I will say that I think that Kramer did that because he knew that we needed a big win over Weber to have any hope of getting into the playoffs. Montana, MSU, EWU are a sure bet to get in, but I don't know about ISU. I drove to Poky for the game.

2012 Box Score http://www.isubengals.com/boxscore.aspx?id=2979&path=football
Weber State adds a late score with 2:14 left in the game to win 40-14

2013 Box Score http://www.isubengals.com/boxscore.aspx?path=football&id=3342
The Cats add another late score with 1:15 left in the game to win 32-7

I am not a fan of the late scores with the game in hand--but I suppose what goes around comes around...

Yes, payback I guess. Looks like EWU is in 1st at 7-1; ISU, UM & MSU are tied up for 2nd at 6-2...I would assume those 4 teams might make it into the playoffs if they take that many BSC teams.

Anyway, wanted to express thanks & best wishes to any Wildcat football team seniors reading! You persevered thru some tough times & leave a lot of us fans with a positive sense of hope that things are going to get better & more successful for the new coaching staff and returning players & Weber State football in general!! Looking forward to next season. THANKS to all of you! :thumb:

Is Kramer aware that in 2012 and 2013 Jody Sears was Weber's coach? The Cats have a new captain at the helm and he wasn't responsible for the unsportsmanlike character of the past couple years. Jody was trying to save his career too. I don't like late TDs for any reason, once the game is all but over. Defeats one of the best aspects of playing a game. Sportmanship?!? Kramer had a chance to take the high road unlike what a FORMER coach at Weber didn't do, and he showed his true colors. Sportsmanship is a very important aspect of the game. Saw that a lot of Bengal starters are graduating. Not the smartest thing to do when you are technically at the apex of your programs development and are about to start over again the next year.

ISU should get a look, but won't. Too bad to. They have a fun team. They scheduled themselves out of playoff contention.

A couple of points, Tal: Idaho State was trying to make a statement to the playoff selection committee, and 46-28 looks a lot more convincing than 39-28.

Point two: ISU returns its entire offense with one key exception next year: the QB. A good deal of the defense will be back as well, although admittedly they will be losing a couple of key pieces in LB Mitch Beckstead and Austin Graves. But ISU will start next year ranked in the top 25.

A third note: Idaho State has been on the short end of a lot of 70-plus defeats over the last several years, which can destroy your program's confidence. The Bengals are entitled to exhibit a little bit of swagger given that rare opportunity. Because the Bengals weren't competitive, the Weber-ISU "rivalry" no longer existed. Maybe the late TD -- and the ISU win -- will restore some fire to the series. And that can only be a good thing.

When I saw that, I was a little miffed, too. At first. However, I probably would have done the same thing if I was in Kramer's position. They were on the bubble for the playoffs and were trying to do everything they can to improve their chances of getting in. Didn't happen, but I'm actually not pissed about it. Hill is a very reasonable guy, and he probably understands that. I doubt he cares.

Idaho State has a good team. They return a lot for next season, but losing Arias is a major loss. Good thing ISU has a veteran offensive line coming back to help the new QB. No matter, I don't care that Kramer went for the last TD. From what was tweeted, it had nothing to do with getting a playoff spot. It was revenge, pure and simple. If I was in his shoes, I would have been tempted to do the same exact thing. Still was hoping to see the Bengals get a spot in the playoffs. Bummer deal that they didn't get in. Nice to see a rivalry again.

I've got no problem with what happened at the end. In fact, I like it. This is supposed to be a rivalry game and stuff like that only make the rivalry better and more intense.

It's gonna add a little FIRE to the game in Ogden next year. Where we start another 11 game series winning streak
