Remember This Kid

Do you all remember the big kid who played for Layton Christian a couple of years ago? He was too good to consider anything but a power 5 school. Well, look where he has ended up!

Such is the folly of recruiting. This kid dominated class AA in Utah high school. Not really much to brag about. Everyone thought he had a big up side. He had only just started playing organized ball. Turns out that he had no up side at all. What you saw is what you got, a big, slow, uncoordinated kid who is trying to play basketball. He is certainly big and he still has that going for him. It will be interesting to see if SUU can do something with him that others have not been able to do.

I really do hope he works out there. :thumb: :thumb:

Probably teach him how to play as dirty as possible.

With Robinson gone, hopefully that style of play is gone too. What happened to his NLI to play at UVU?

Something is not quite adding up as this the 5th program he has been with or committed to since high school.

Fall 2013 - Coach Porter starts telling media and local schools that Christian is being heavily recruited by Duke and other top programs. It wasn't that Bobby was just talking Power 5, was talking top 5.
April 2014 - Christian commits to play for Central Arkansas.
Fall 2014 - He plays for Indian Hills CC
Fall 2015 - He plays for SLCC
November 2015 - Signs letter of intent to play at UVU
Summer 2016 - Commits to SUU

I won't be as harsh as Olds. The kid does have some potential but he is and always has been a very marginal D1 prospect. Bobbys plan of holding him out for management didn't pay off.

I agree with you, that he is a marginal DI player. He would be a solid DII and a very good DIII.

The road he has traveled is unfortunate, at best. :wtf:

Bobby mismanaged this kid. It's that simple.

Poor kid. He has a lot of upside and hopefully something happens for him in Cedar. I am curious as to why he isn't going to UVU. What happened there?
