Rivals

ISU is our biggest rival, and starting this year, we get to start an instate/inconference rivalry started with SUU. However, is it possible that SUU/NAU will become a bigger rivalry than Weber/SUU?

Its strange that we are not considered rivals with Montana or Montana State, the other 2 charter members. Our series with Montana is a little one sided, but our series with MSU is actually quite close. MSU leads the series 27-20. Im suprised that this game is not a rivalry

2 more series that are tight that are not considered rivalries are against NAU and EWU.

We lead the series with NAU by 3 25-22 and Eastern leads the series with us by 1 15-14

The Portland State series....how is this not a rivalry? We lead the overall 19-12, but the games between Weber and Portland State have been CRAZY to say the least, 2 years in a row we have won in the closing seconds :shocking:

Also, can UNC be considered a rival? The series is led 5-0 by Weber, but only once in that series has a game been decided by more than 8 points :shocking: Or is it more of a one sided rivalry, more for Bears fans than Weber fans?

Could it be possible to be rivals with 8 other schools?

suu-nau will never be bigger than weber-suu but it would be a natural rival now that suu is the closest school to suu. prior to the conf changes we were the closest school to unc, nau and isu. so you could say we were a natural rival for all 3, though it was only isu.

nau has been in the big sky since 1970 while unc has been a member 5 yrs.

it will be awesome to have suu in the conf for a good football rivalry. in basketball it just means 2 more wins for us. isu rivalry has almost become a joke but with them improving with a new coach that could change. suu will be much bigger. more road fans will show up for the weber-suu games than isu.

we dont have a big rivalry with the montanas even though all 3 are charter big sky members because we never beat them. montana st hasn't been quite as bad for us as montana, but in the last 14 yrs we have 2 wins. between 1980-1996 we went 13-4 vs bobs.

I have a few cousins who go to SUU. So I'm excited for that rivalry. I like their coach and I think they got a good thing going for their team right now. Also ISU is turning heads in the Sky. 30 point win over UNC?! They might not be the pushover we've come to expect every year.

I wish the rivalries with the BSC charter members were more intense. But the close competitive history just hasn't been there on our side. Especially for the Grizz. Mac has made some great changes for Weber though. Things are looking up.
