Road Trip to UM

UM is down a little bit this year, but they are still a dangerous team. They have the talent to beat anybody on a given day. They are a lot like we were last year. They have a group of young, inexperienced players who play like they are young and inexperienced. Couple that with the fact that they are not getting what they expected out of their upper classmen. Their fans arer saying all of the same things we were saying about our guys last year. It's frustrating for them because they expect more and they are not getting it. Sound familiar?

With all of that said, I still think these games are going to be dog fights. If it's a dog fight, I like our chances. If it's a track meet, I like our chances. The thing that makes me worry is that it is at Montana. On the other hand, the majority of our guys are unaware of our history with UM. To them it's just another game.

I hope we go up there and take care of business.

Wins in Missoula are tough to come by. It will be a good test for this team. I hope they can keep the momentum rolling.

Yeah. Over the past couple of years UM has been very solid. I think our team has the focus and mental toughness to get it done. We will see. The odd timing, 5:00pm, of this game will keep me from seeing it. I'll be able to tune in after it is over. Hopefully, I will be able to get something on the game. :coffee:

Well, three-point shooting wasn’t on tonight and defense let a struggling offense light them up. I didn’t think they would win both games. They need to brush themselves off and get a split if they want to remain in contention of regular season title.

It’s still wide open for 4-5 teams if the Tournament is able to be played.

WSU LOST THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP TODAY! Coupled with EWU's big win in Bozeman it is just too much to overcome. I have to say that DeCure has Rahe's number for sure. He consistently outreaches Rahe. He is just a better in game coach than Rahe, period.

This game was all about defense... Weber didn't and Montana did! Montana smartly moved their pickup point beyond the 3 point line and took the 3 away. Weber took fewer three's than they normally would and hit only 21% versus their average for the season at double that percentage. McCure's defense was the difference in the game. And when you add in Weber's poor defense of the 3 it led to a double digit win for them. Kyle Owens their 6'8" forward has hit a total of 9 3's in 17 games before this one. In this one he hit 5. In the second half Weber left him totally unguarded in the 3 corner and he hit 4 straight to break the backs of Weber. You can not leave a good 3 point shooter unguarded and expect him not to beat you. He averages 12 points a game and got 27 today, thanks in large part to the unguarded threes he hit.

If Weber is to recover they have to find a solution to Montana's defense. Any time a team is quick and can guard them beyond the three line they do not perform well. Montana's quickness equalled ours today, the same thing that happened at Boise State. Coach has got to step up his coaching game and figure out a way to overcome their quickness and free up the three shot better. And secondly, must play better defense if there is to be a win on Saturday.

In short, try not to get outreached again...

I typed 'out coached' in the first and last paragraph of the previous post and somehow the computer changed it to 'outreached'.

We get the split, 91-82. A dog fight all the way. We stepped up our.D.

Dilloon Jones is developing into a real animal on the boards and on D. His passing and ball handling are good. If he develops a good outside shot, he will be sensational.

Today, when UM smacked us in the mouth, we didn't back down. That UM defense is one of the best we have seen this year. BYU had better shot blockers, but overall, in your face, D goes to UM IMHO.

Getting a split at UM is big. Now we just need to take care of business at home and one morer tough roady. :coffee:

They got the split. The Wildcats shot really well. Looking at the schedule, I think SUU has the easiest path to the top seed, but the tournament is up for grabs anyway. Gotta try and win out and hope some teams stumble. I think a win in Missoula is a confidence builder going forward.

Dillon Jones; 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, in 18 minutes on the floor. That is my player of the game. :thumb: :thumb:

To me the difference in this game and Thursday's game was that on Thursday and through the first half today Montana dictated the type of game according to their style. But we finally took control and dictated that they play our style. With our style they were no match... I hope we can continue to dictate the style and pace of the games. If we do, then we will win the rest!
