Roady to PSU and Sac

These two games are huge. Winning them both would be great, but a difficult chore. We saw what kind of athletes PSU had when they were here. They play fast and aggressive. To beat them you have to take care of the ball and keep them off the glass. PSU is a team that can beat anybody, but they have been all over the place, as far as how efficient they have been. If you have composure under their pressure, you can get wide open shots. Also, they will foul you a lot and only half of it will get called. You can't let it get in your head. We can beat them at their place, but it will take a solid effort.

Sac has shown signs of getting it together lately. They played UM to a 2 point game in Missoula and their guards can get hot if you give them any sort of a chance. They always seem to get up to play us as well.

I can see us winning both of these games or losing both. A split would be okay, but not good, if we expect to have a chance at catching UM. :coffee:

PSU is tough in their rental building because of course everything is helter skelter and that just seems more effective and more intimidating in a tiny gym. I believe the 3 keys to beating PSU are -- obviously -- taking care of the basketball, and getting a lead. They seem to get a little more tentative defensively when behind. And crashing the defensive boards. PSU is the best offensive rebounding team I've seen this season.

Sac..., I don't know what to say. I've seen them at times look downright awful -- like NAU bad -- this season. And then they come into Dahlberg and give the Griz our most difficult game since Washington. Katz can coach, and if guys buy in on any particular night, they can definitely be a difficult out. If not, well, then Weber by 24.

That is what bothers me. We gave up 19 offensive boards to UNC. We just out shot them in the end, to win the game. If they send guards to the offensive glass, we need to make them pay by getting the defensive boards and running on them.

Sac... We just need to play our game and shoot the ball the way we usually do. We just can't sleep on their guards. With Sac you have to be efficient in your possesions. That is our game. We need our average game, no more.

I think the same can be said for UM's games this weekend. This is a big weekend for the seedings in Reno.

Weber is up 36-34 at the half. For as poorly as we played, I'll take that. We trailed for almost the entire half, turned the ball over way too many times, and didn't play anywhere near as well as we usually do.

Lets hope that we settle down in the second half.

Wildcats win it overtime 95-86. In the end, PSU just made more mistakes than we did and we shot a little better. We still turned it over way too many times.

Weber wins despite being heavily outrebounded again. Too many 2nd chance points. I'll take the win but those rebounds are gonna come back to bite us someday.

Any win beats a loss. Lets go get Sac on Saturday.

I'm still gonna be on an O board rant. We got creamed again 20-6!
Nevertheless, I love our guts down the stretch the past two games. We could have caved but didn't.
KEEP IT ROLLIN' CATS!

Wow this team has some heart. I did not think it was possible to get absolutely killed like that on the glass and still get the win. They did not give up and pulled it out.

Proud of the effort displayed by the Cats last night! They pulled out a W in a tough environment. Ryan had ice water in his veins last night. Kept hitting huge shots from outside that gave us a chance at the end. Also, our defense was awesome! Regardless, the Cats have got to get better on the boards. I don't understand when you are starting three guys who are 6-8 or taller, how on earth you can be out rebounded by a team that plays mostly a 4 guard lineup. I get why Kozak was only on the floor for 22mins last night. Speed wise, he was a bit of a liability; but he is our best and most consistent rebounder.

Giving up all of those offensive boards comes down to our guys not finding their guys to box out and then not actually accomplishing that one little thing. It's a little thing that has a big effect over the length of the game. It's a fudamental thing and it is mostly happening with our guard line. :coffee:

Another good road win over the hornets. And with Idaho's tip in to win we are now tied for first. (In the loss column)

Got 2 tough ones coming up next week. Need them both.

We win in Sacramento and UM just lost at UI. That helps us only if we win out. We have to win against UI and EWU this week and take UM on the road. That will certainly not be easy to do. I'm glad that we get the next two at home. UI will come in eager to move up in the standings. :coffee:

Surprise, surprise, this time we won a game by out rebounding somebody and actually had more offensive boards than Sac did. What do you know!
