Whatta Fucking Joke!

We get the #5 seed, which is completely useless. We open with a team that gets a first round bye, only to go on the road for the remainder of the tournament.

Our resume was completely disrespected for no apparent reason. Why do the polls and computer rankings mean nothing? East Coast bias rears it's ugly head again!

Head to head means more, see ya in a rematch on 12/11

I totally agree. The #5 seed is useless and means nothing. Lets beat SEMO and hope NDSU upsets MSU in Bozeman and then we could get one more home playoff game. I think our stadium and attendance figures factored into the decision. NCAA wants to make money and we don't not even for a red hot playoff team. Sucks!!!!

William and Mary with three losses and the #2 seed is a joke.

Fair enough to have MSU ahead of us at #4 due to the head to head, but both BSC teams (#4, #5) behind both CAA teams (#2, #3)????? Sure.

Also, not really sure about App State @ #1. How is their drubbing by Florida any better than our loss to a top 25 Nevada?

Thanks east coast dickheads.

ya, next time we'll have T. Jones.

for what's it's worth, I felt like Montana State was robbed too...

I didnt expect Delewhere to be that high, the way they finished the season and all. I figured them for the #5 with MSU at #3 and your at #4

Oh well, we both need to take care of business in the first game and then see what happens in the rematch :D

Sure we deserve a higher seed, but our bracket is very favorable.

SEMO is a run heavy team which plays to our defensive strength. And coming from the mediocre OVC, I think they are a much easier draw for us than MSU's likely second round opponent - NDSU.

On the other side of the bracket, App. St.'s quarterfinal opponent will either be Nova or SFA who are both solid and could pull the upset at the Rock. If we made it that far, we would then host a semi final game.

I would love to have been a higher seed with at least 2 guaranteed home games. But as it is, I'll take traveling to Bozeman for another crack at the cats in the quarters Instead of Boone, Newark, or Williamsburg.

And who knows, with a little luck and help we could still host additional games in our house.

I'm ok with where we're at.

Completely agree. Made the trip to Bozeman in September and would do it again if needed. Big Sky deserved more respect but as usual we will have to earn that respect on the field.

It's stuff like this that make me question about having a true National Champion. Yes, it's decided on the field but when seeds like this play such an important role in home field advantage it makes me wonder if indeed it's fair and impartial. Wonder what would happen if Duke was ranked #1 at the end of the basketball season only to have it's first game at home and then possibly on the road for every other playoff game?

The stupid thing is that if you replaced our name with "Montana" and the resumes remained the exact same, we're at least a #2 seed. How does the #1 team in the country get knocked down 4 spots by the playoff committee? Has that EVER happened before?

I'd have been fine with a #4 seed and getting a play-in team, but the #5 seed holds no weight whatsoever. It is the inconsequential seed.

Without the 5 seed we may have been out bid for a home game. It also guarantees us home field against potential non- seeded opponents in later rounds. For example, the likes of Jacksonville state, NDSU, SFA, and UNI would all host us if we were unseeded.

I'm listening to the App State playoff preview show. Even the App State guys are wondering how the #1 ranked team ends up getting the #5 seed. Bogus.

Just caught the tail end of this.

You know, if Jacksonville is looking to toughen up their schedule next year, I believe we have one home date still TBD.

Think we got lucky to get 4th but you guy's were robbed, 5th don't mean jake unless the other seeds go down. IMO, EWU should have been between 1-3. Good luck in the playoffs, unless of course you are playing us then it's Go Cat's!

EWURanger,
Your post about William & Mary losing 3 games and getting a #2 seed being a joke only means that you have never seen W&M play. First, we (yes, I played at and graduated from W&M) were beating UNC late in the game in Chapel Hill (one loss). We lost our season opener by 4 points to a FCS-ranked team that nearly beat Michigan. Our other loss was against JMU in the final seconds in Harrisonburg. JMU beat Virginia Tech. William & Mary has beaten Delaware, New Hampshire, Richmond, and Villanova this season. W&M has played and beaten these highly ranked teams. This is not intended to be a slight of EWU, but you haven't beaten ANYBODY (Montana didn't even make the playoffs) and you were slaughtered by the ONLY team that you played who made the playoffs (Montana State). If EWU played in the CAA, you'd understand what winning the CAA title means. Just look at who has won the last several FCS (1-AA) championships. Other that App State, ALL of the other champions have come out of the CAA. Weber State and Southern Illinois thought they were big stuff last year until they were drummed by W&M in the playoffs.

Yep, I got it man. I understand the CAA is a tough conference, and I understand that W & M has some really quality wins this year. None of what I said what intended to be smack against W & M. But my entire argument is predicated on the notion that a three loss team should not be seeded over three 9-2 teams, period. Sorry, but are we just supposed to ignore that third loss because W & M has quality wins?> Apparently so.

And I understand you're probably basing you're opinion of the Big Sky on last year's playoff performances. Fair enough - but I also don't really think you understand how competitive the Big Sky was this year. With Montana finishing at 7-4, and 3 other teams finishing at 6-5, the Big Sky could have easily sent 3 or even 4 teams to the playoffs if a couple games had played out a little differently. Throw Southern Utah in there as another 6-5 team EWU beat that probably would have made the playoffs if they didn't have two FBS schools on their schedule. So your assertion that EWU hasn't played anyone is a bit of an over-simplification.

Montana 7-4
Sacramento State 6-5
Weber State 6-5
Northern Arizona 6-5
Southern Utah 6-5

I hear what you're saying EWURanger. Had Montana lived up to their hype, I could see that as a huge win for you guys. Even with a down year, no doubt beating Montana is a big win. My point is that, sure, W&M lost 3 games...like your loss to Nevada, I don't think that losing to an FCS school should count against you. However, W&M beat four teams that were ranked in the top 5 and five teams who were in the top 8. What other school did that? And, the two teams who narrowly beat us were also ranked in the top 8 at some point during the season. No other team in the playoffs has already beaten three other teams who are in the playoffs. You have to factor that in. Hey, I hope you guys play well. I'd like to see a Big Sky team in the nationals championship. I'm thrilled that Montana didn't make it. I'm tired of their money dictating homefield advantage. If EWU and W&M meet in the final...I'll buy you the first beer in Frisco. Take care.

I think a lot of folks are. I personally wished they could have pulled off the win against MSU. That would have given us conference title outright, and would have also put three Big Sky teams in the playoffs. But perhaps it's good for their fan base to have some humble pie for a change.
