I've heard it said numerous times that having games @ Albi did not give a home field advantage. It always felt like a neutral field. The decision makers at that time wanted to be on campus to attract more EWU students and liked the campus environment. Can't agrue with either of those points. Even though there may have been 17k attending a game there it did not feel as good as 8-10k in Woodward.

Not to mention the 17k games were pretty much all against the Griz, so a large portion of that attendance was from them, just like our largest attendance games in Cheney are because of the Griz. 16k and eventually 20k+ are reasonable numbers for us to reach toward on a regular basis, outside of the game against the Griz every two years.

Agreed. But how is it OK to play in a 6k size stadium to a 5k size crowd in a conference where the title is won YEAR IN & YEAR OUT by a team that plays in a sold out 20k+ seat stadium for 20+years?

It's not. But when you don't have the attendance numbers because you're not winning on the field, there's not a whole lot the administration could do, IMO. My freshman year (2004) was when we started winning on a regular basis, which drew fans and attendance numbers, and therefore justified improvements. The NC has and should serve as an amplifier for upgrading. Granted Chaves and Westfall, backed by Arevalo and combined with the success on the field (Baldwin) are why we're continually improving. The perfect storm of events. Now if only we could get some state dollars...

We need to prove we can keep fans coming to the games, especially when the Griz are not in town. We will do that by winning at a high level. Last year our crowd was much improved, even from the national championship year. I remember the 2010 playoffs against SEMO and NDSU, the stadium was less than 1/2 full (both of those games were cold as hell and did keep a lot of people away). I think everyone behind the gateway project is going to want to see the fans continue to come to the games before really moving forward with the project. Last year was really the first year we had great attendence the entire year, not for just a game or two, and most of that was due to the national champ in 2010. I think this year is key, if our fans continue to show up and we sell out the majority of our games, I think we will see the gateway project really take a leap in the right direction.

a win vs montana (or atleast a great/close game) will also help attendance for the rest of the season.

Absolutely right...but don't say "at least a close game" haha..no way we lose this one.

I heard from a friend who's company is bidding on the gateway project that the latest plans call for a skywalk over Washington instead of rerouting traffic. Probably a lot cheaper and less time consuming.

What else? I know u asked more questions? :|

He also said the entire visitors side would be closed in, and that the whole parking lot (RH?) would be a building. However, I don't think he realized that the lot wraps around behind the north endzone. After all is said and done, the home side of the field will switch.

Nice, now by "closed in" do you think he means the eastside stands will "connect" with the north endzone stand and/or the south endzone student section?

Gauging by the mock up, I think he means that there will be walls along the sides on the ends, plus the roof/overhang over the stands themselves (similar to UW).... which is actually a BRILLIANT design because it will project the sound straight at the field and the opposing side... which is a natural wall (hill, pressbox). It would keep all the sound in the stadium, allowing the potential for fans to learn how to yell, and give us a greater home field advantage.

Do you think there will be "corner seats" connecting the east side stands to the endzone seats like at WGS & Bobcat stadium?

Eventually, hopefully. Not in this phase.

Similar, but it seems like they've take off the upper deck and overhang thing. Maybe this is a good sign bc: 1, they have a 2nd rendering & 2, maybe its more affordable this way. BTW they used one of you guys' uniform photoshop images.

IMHO the roof overhang is important to give the structure some identity, enhances the outdoor seating in in-climate weather and most of all NOISE

 Yeah, I saw that. That was a 'Nike Pro' PSD template on Deviantart that I used used to make an EWU version. They also used an EWU helmet mockup I made last year from a template I found online an put all over the parking passes, among other things. :|
