Evidently the Big Sky Conference is changing it's name to the Treasure State Conference beginning with the upcoming season, coinciding with the conference's new television contract with DirectV and the Root Network. What else can we expect when every single broadcast includes either Montana or Montana State. Really? And for any apologists out there who defend this crap because of the recent success of the Treasure State schools, all I can say to you is get some balls and contact the Big Sky and voice your concern. I can see showing a few more of their games because of their success, but Holy Sh...t !

Considering the proven size of UM/MSU's fanbase this sortof makes sense. But for EWU to get TWO games does say quite a bit about the growth of the program. I don't think we would have gotten two games a few years ago.
But if we keep up our attendance and Spokesman keeps the unusually solid press, EWU could get a few more games in the next couple of years.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have to express my complete disgust at your programming schedule released yesterday after my initial excitement about the announcement of Big Sky football to be broadcast on your channel. What a bunch of garbage! A Montana school in every broadcast?! You have to be kidding?!
You do realize that the state of Montana is the LEAST populous state of all the states in the Big Sky conference, don’t you? In fact, anyone interested in a college football game in Montana is probably AT the game! The greatest population growth in the country since the decennial 2000 Census has occurred in the states of Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and Texas, the first four of those with teams in the Big Sky. The largest state in the country, California, has ONE game being broadcast.
Oh, and never mind the promotion of the two most crime ridden programs in the conference with Montana State’s documented drug problems leading to the firing of their coach and Montana… where does one start? Head coach and A.D. fired a week or so ago, on-going rape investigations, multiple DUI’s, fights (even a “biting”), tasings, etc. Your “feature” school is imploding and the potential for their season to go down the toilet is real and imminent. It will serve you right…
I’m now looking forward to local broadcasts and school webcasts. If it was possible to watch the Mariners elsewhere, I’d not be watching your channel at all.
With disgust and dismay,
(Dozy)
I will try to contact some other (non-Montana) ADs around the league and get their reaction.
A tough day at the office for me: I left six messages left with Big Sky ADs for comments on the ROOT TV schedule - Zero replies so far
Of course, nobody want to sound-byte the proverbial hand that's feeding their athletic budgets...
I will keep trying. I know DirecTV wants a foothold in the Montana market, and that this is bigger than football
