Montana or Montana State is on EVERY stinking week! Wow! EWU won the stinking championship 2 years ago and is only on 2 times. I understand that they went to the playoffs last year and deserve more TV games, but this is ridiculous.

Well...I bet most of the basketball games will have Weber State or Montana. So, it all evens out over time. They are going to have the games on that will get the most viewers, and potentially make the most $$$. Unfortunately, the next best, for football, would be UND. Weber isn't anywhere near the top in football viewership.

I was surprised as well. Hopefully our local affiliates will pick up the rest, or we go backwards.

Thanks for letting me bend your ears - I'm a diehard PSU Viking fan, and normally don't post much on other forums, but I can't help myself, so please bear with me.

Evidently the Big Sky Conference is changing it's name to the Treasure State Conference beginning with the upcoming season, coinciding with the conference's new television contract with DirectV and the Root Network. What else can we expect when every single broadcast includes either Montana or Montana State. Really? And for any apologists out there who defend this crap because of the recent success of the Treasure State schools, all I can say to you is get some balls and contact the Big Sky and voice your concern. I can see showing a few more of their games because of their success, but Holy Sh...t !

Nice job Big Sky!!! Way to highlight the football teams with the most arrests, and criminal activity!! That is exactly what we want to see. We want to tell recruits that what you do off the field doesnt matter because you will be on TV almost every week. What an EMBARASSMENT.

What a joke. Root is in more homes than Altitude. But not that much more. We will still be able to stream them all online too. Right? I sure wish KJZZ would pick up some WSU games... That good for nothing channel.

I was hoping that the WSU vs ISU game would be broadcast with 300K people in SE Idaho and 2 million in the Wasatch front I thought that would have been an attractive TV market as Root only has 8.7 million viewers.
The grizz are going to lose 4-6 conference games. I think that Root sports is going to look stupid. Hey lets get the WSU vs ISU game televised in SE Idaho and in Utah work together split cost.

:twocents:

Well I would like more Weber road games to be on tv cause I go to all the home games anyway, (minus the ones on opening hunt weekend) but this is a little rediculous. The only time your gonna be on tv is when you play either Montana or Montana State, little unfair to the rest of the league.

I dont care too much about being able to watch Weber on tv, the part that really upsets me is the fact of how much more this is gonna benefit the Montana's over everyone else.

We know they already have a recruiting advantage due to thier history and tradition, but putting the Bobcats and the Griz on tv Every weekend is gonna make that advantage even greater.

If you are not a Griz or Bobcat fan, this schedule should piss you off

I agree with Bengalsapper, our local medias should get together and make a plan to start at least broadcasting the Weber/ISU game yearly.

Of course I dont see this happening, considering that the Utah media doesnt give a rats buttocks about us.

At least with the game not on tv, it gives the Bengal and Wildcat fans a great reason to take a 2 hour road trip north or southbound.

Which I am really gonna try to do this year, we should get a whole crap load of Purple and white and take a drive to Pokeytatoe

I have quite a few names for the place, Pokeytato and Pokeafellow are two them :-D

Cal Poly is the lone Big Sky school which won't have a football game aired on Root, and they're not too happy about it (and rightfully so).

http://www.sanluisobispo.com/2012/04/12/2027640/calpoly-football-not-part-of-12.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It was the network’s sole decision to select games, Big Sky assistant commissioner Jon Kasper said. The conference had no say.

“Everyone is going to benefit financially from the ROOT package, and that includes Cal Poly.”

Said (Cal Poly AD) Oberhelman: “For me, it’s not about the money. This should be about exposure for our university and our brand.”

I realize Kasper is trying to spin a positive, but the money received isn't a make or break amount. This contract was supposed to be about the visibility/exposure. It looks like Fullerton and the conference went into this completely naive/incompetent. I'd respect the conference more if they actually had the testicular fortitude to come out and say they wish the network would have chosen some games which didn't include the Montanas.
