Royce Williams transferring

Royce is on the transfer list now too. I really liked Royce. I didn't think he would play much this coming year, but I would have liked to have a veteran guy like him still on the team. Hope he finds a good place where he can play a lot of minutes and contribute. Royce was a good guy and teammate from what I could tell.

WOW!!

I, totally, did not see that coming. He is a great kid and I hope he lands in a good place. I have never heard anything but good about him from all of our coaches. I'm sure it was a playing time issue as well.

Alright, this one shocks me a little bit. Are these guys being run off or what? I think we needed his experience on this very young team. Does this make Hajek our only senior next season? Great leadership is not something that you can usually get from an incoming recruit their first year. I hope to hear that one of the kids that was here this weekend has signed.

Randy Rahe is a great coach and cares for his players. At the end of each season he sits down with each player and goes over the prior season and outlook for next one. He's not going to blow smoke at a player. If the player wants to be a starter and the staff doesn't see it. They'll be honest in their assessment. It looks like Royce wants starters minutes and made the difficult decision to leave.

Tough decision, let's hope it's the right one for Royce, but it's a sign that Weber is only getting a higher level of talent and you have to improve if you want to be part of the team. I like the message that it sends.

Everyone talks about how do we move to the next level? Well, it's happening, but there's going to be some pain on the journey!

Best of luck to Royce!

Neither transfer is a huge shock. Williams's minutes actually went down from last year to this year (9.7 - 9.2), not what you would expect from a junior who you are planning to play 20+ minutes in his senior year. Clearly the coaches saw something on the court that they did not like, especially considering that they ran pretty much a 7 man rotation for most of the year.
Similar thing for Fuller. Both players could have played themselves into minutes as a 3rd man off the bench. The fact that neither did says something.
I wish them both the best where ever they land.

:+1:

Neither transfers are huge losses, IMO. Was never overly impressed with Fuller, even though he didn't get many minutes to show us his game. To say that Fuller will be a star somewhere else and that his transfer is an enormous negative for the program are huge overreactions. It's the state of college basketball today. Tons of transfers every year. Better get used to it.

Yes, neither Williams or Fuller deciding to transfer is a huge shock. However, teams need continuity and veterans to succeed. Weber is losing three guys who have 4 or, in Fulton's case 5 years of experience in Rahe's system. Also, the Cats are losing Berry who had three years in the system. There aren't a lot of guys in the system right now who will be able to contribute effectively immediately and then there aren't guys who will be able to tutor and assist those newbs who are joining the team. Am I over reacting? Probably... Will Weber be fine next season? In all likelihood. However, now the Cats have three open spots. I hate going into a season with an open scholarship based off of what has happened in the not so recent past; INJURIES. Also, I keep being told there aren't any good JUCO players available right now. So, why lose a kid who has experience in the program for someone who is brand new and isn't as "talented?"

THIS HAS TO BE PROOF THAT CARLINO IS BECOMING A WILDCAT!!

Both Fuller and Williams could start on almost any other BSC team and maybe be a star for them. That's how I see it, and I have watched them in practice quite a bit.

We will only have 5 returning players next season, and 8 players entering into the system. It could be a little rocky to start the season.

With these transfers, I'm hoping that we do get Carlino. We could use the senior leadership.

You're kidding right olds? Unfortunately, Carlino is not a leader. He is a me first guy that could care less about the team. Lets get this 6-6 JC kid and call it good. Leadership is something that is developed over time. You can't expect any player to come into a new situation and instantly become a leader let alone the jIMMER WANNA BE. Joel needs to take some of the responsibilities of the leadership. Hopefully Gittens and Senglin are ready to step up as well.

I have friends that graduated from there. It's a good school and a good community. I'm sure that he can be a star there. :thumb: :thumb:

I'm sure he will play at a great level. It's very talented player.
