Pretty selfless thing to do if that actually is the case. However, is he even ready to play yet?oldrunner said:Ryan must have volunteered to play if needed. I think that it's not something that anyone wants to have to do, but, in an emergency, it would be nice to have that resource avaiable. I think that it is big of ryan to do that. If it turns out that he is not used for the rest of the season, his redshirt year will still be intact. He is a great kid, with a lot of potential, and it is truely unselfish of him to make himself available to play. I hope he comes back from his mission bigger and stronger. If he does, he can really help us down the road.

Coach Rahe asked him if he would be willing to come off redshirt, but only in the event of emergency. Coach believes he could be an asset down the stretch, still he realizes the benefit of keeping the extra year. Tough situation but Ryan is willing to do what will benefit the team. Coaches have very high praise for his progress. They like his ability to knock down the 15 footer, runs the floor well, and is very long. Only weighs about 215 lbs and could use another 20 lbs, but he is still only 18 years old.
