I'll be at the men's game at the Stott Center. Hopefully they'll annouce another Lady Viks win at some point in the second half tonight.

Jenkins is a terrible coach. He pretty much just sat on the bench for the last twelve minutes of the game last night with the body english that he'd given up after being fairly animated in the first half of the game. Don't quit on your kids coach. If I were Sac State, I would not renew that guy's contract.
 
While I've never heard of THAT kind of behavior out of Jenkins, the general consensus of fans at SacBuzz is that Jenkins has long overstayed his welcome.

What's your take? Same as the general consensus?

There is some talent on that squad, but the offensive sets (or lack of) that they run are horrible. Not much movement away from the ball and a lot of isolation by the ball handler. That 2-3 zone that they run needs some work as well. The players overcommit to the ball and two good passes will lead to a wide open shot. That's bad coaching in my opinion...
 
I have no official opinion as I have not seen a game since the Abatemarco era. (Good riddance to bad rubbish with him as well.)

SacBuzz fans who have seen the game describe the team philosophy as "street ball." No wonder they can't win a game. The two NAIA wins have got to be misleading to say the least.

In the years I've been watching Jenkins, every year I think the same thing....thug basketball. Jenkins is nothing but a thug, and he teaches that to his kids.

How many coaches yell to try and distract opposing players that are on that sideline? I've never seen it by anybody but Jenkins, and that shows his level of professionalism. I'm truly suprised that he is still the coach. I would've figured after multiple bad seasons like Sac has had, that he would've been let go.
 
I've just heard that Jenkins was almost canned during the summer. Why he wasn't, I have no idea. However, we don't think he'll be fired mid-season because of an assistant coach mutiny that occurred after last year. They are not going to put the team in the hands of coaches who have barely been on campus for 4 or 5 months.

Look for him to ship out as soon as the season's over, though. Should have happened a long time ago.
 
Basic hunch: coach "almost being canned" = school can't afford to buy out the contract + not enough donors who care to contribute to the effort.
 
No let down tonight Viks. Sac St. has talent and if you take them lightly, well let's just not go down that road. I think Morrison could have a big game tonight if we feed him the ball down low. If I remember correctly, the Hornets are a fairly small team. Go Viks! Let's stay in first place!

Stars: In Big Sky competition, Huff, Dominguez, Murray and Morrison are all averaging double figures in points for the Vikings. Guard Loren Leath, averaging 15.1 points per game, did not start in the Hornet's upset win over Northern Colorado Saturday and only played 12 minutes in the game. Freshman guard Vinnie McGhee had 17 points in the Hornet's last time out against the Bears.

Just a taste: Portland State pounded the Hornets 83-58 in Portland on Jan. 3, and have won five of six games since, taking over first place in the Big Sky after defeating Montana State last Saturday. Sacramento State snapped a five-game losing streak last weekend. The Vikings are currently on a four-game winning streak, with all wins coming against Big Sky foes. If all plays out like it did less than a month ago against Sacramento State, the Vikings should extend that streak to five games.
 
Yes, on paper we should win. But consider: two nights ago we were playing at Northern Arizona and now we whip down to Sacramento? We've got to be tired. How, I wonder, do we do that? Off one plane and onto another? It'll be a close match.
