Sac State currently sits at 2-2 in the Big Sky Conference and 3-3 overall. Their conference wins have come against Montana (42-28) and UNC (14-0 in a crazy weather game). Their conference losses have been against MSU (31-21) and against Weber State (49-17). They started off the year with a wild win at Oregon State, but also have another pretty bad loss at Southern Utah (35-14).
They have a very favorable schedule remaining with 4 of 5 games at home. They have played only one home game thus far, the above mentioned rout of Montana, and this probably has a lot to do with their 3-3 record.
Sac State is a little hard to figure out. They have lost a couple games that they perhaps should have won, and won a couple games that maybe they weren't favor to win. They are perhaps the most balanced team offensively we've played since MSU.
To win this game, Eastern will need the defensive line to perform the way it did against Weber State and NAU. We need guys like Renard and Matt Johnson to step up and change the game. We will need to continue the trend of creating some TO's and not committing any of our own. Through our three wins, we have been +1 against WSU, +4 against NAU, and +3 against UNC in the TO margin. Compare that with +0 against MSU, -1 against UM, -1 against South Dakota, and -2 against Washington in our losses. That, above all else, has been the difference.
