• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Sac State Nabs BOTH Track COY Awards

 Well deserved. The track & field programs have been steadily improving the last few years and it culminated with a sweep of both the indoor and outdoor t&f championships. Hopefully this dominance is maintained for years to come.

Looks like our T&F and tennis programs are what are dominant today. Hopefully volleyball and softball can return to dominating the field. Congrats to everyone involved.

GCM: Softball is also doing OK in conference. We finished third in a pretty tough Coastal Division in the PCSC. We did significantly better in conference than we did OOC, though. OOC was bad enough to send a solid 12-8 conference record to a 20-24 overall record.

I don't know how different things would have been if they'd placed us in the Mountain division, where all of the other softball-playing Sky schools were. (That's PSU, UNC, Weber, and ISU.) Amazing that Weber and Santa Clara of all people were Tail-End Charlie with only 3 and 2 conference wins apiece. Also amazing that only PSU, USD, and Loyola Marymount had overall winning records. PSU got the autbid. Grrrrr!

Regarding Coach Raske, she hosted a track and field alumni (and family/friends) reunion at The Well following the Big Sky Championship meet. They had a buffet and casino type games and we got a tour of the Broad Fieldhouse and The Well, which is fantastic. My daughter and son-in-law took me; they ran track and cross country 10 years ago. A track star from the 1966 team flew in from Dallas for the event. Probably 40 people attended.

I don't know if this is new info or not, but Dr. Wanless spoke and told us that they were excited about the new digs for all the coaches (except football and track which are in the Broad) at the Health Services building adjacent to Yosemite Hall. Every coach now will have their own remodeled office, where in the past they had up to three coaches in one small room at Yosemite.

A couple facts about The Well. They have nearly 100 cardio machines. They used as many local companies as possible to construct it to reduce costs. A recent grad told me that he could use the facility for 18 months after graduating and he only pays $12 a month. Current students are automatically paying fees as part of their tuition and don't pay anything extra to use it.
