Sac State to leave BSC?

They have been the doormat of the BSC in football since joining... This year was an improvement (4-4 BSC), but does it mean that they are on the way up, or just not as bad as they usually are this year? Men's hoops seems to be progressing in a forward direction for them.

I'd love to see Cal Poly come in their place to be honest. The BSC is a great conference, and would be even better with another football powerhouse.

I've thought for awhile that they'd end up in the Great West for all non-football sports, and that they'd either go independent or join the Great West in football.
 
MoV - you mean Big West for other sports... and that wouldn't surprise me.

If (perhaps when) the Gateway takes ND State and SD State, North Dakota and South Dakota will take their place. Of course, they'll be pinging to join their brethren in the Gateway right from the get go.

The Big West won't take Portland State because of extra (read: air) travel. Well, they MIGHT take Portland State, but PSU would be asked to subsidize the travel costs of other schools to Portland. That really excited Idaho and Utah State.

The other burning questions: who else will have 1-AA football out west to make 8 for the Great West?

In two years, will everyone feel the same positive vibes about the Great West? I may use the phrase "these things go in cycles" too much, but it seems to apply here.

You're right, I totally meant the Big West.

As for the other issue, I'm not sure who else could have I-AA football. I know there are some alums at Santa Clara of the WCC that would love to see them bring back I-AA football.
