Sac State

After the game on Thursday I was feeling pretty good about this team. After tonight's performance that has changed.
The first half of the game was an example of this teams potential, the second half they reverted to previous games...street ball, every man for himself. In the first half they were running plays, working the ball and looked good. The second half everything changed. Whatever happened in the locker room it was not good. Some players work so hard and are to be proud of. It is sad to see others let the team down. Is this a reflection of coaching? What else is a coach to do other than to get the most out of his players? That definitely did not happen tonight.

The coach cant control how they play??? Then why the hell have a coach? Why are we paying him?

For just the second time - and the second time in two years - we have lost AT HOME to Sac State. It is disgraceful how low our program has sunk.

We are 3-4 at home this year and 1-8 on the road...boy do we have a long way to go. Losing to Sac at home is not a good thing.

I know everyone is not a big fan of Earlywine, but at least he brought us a lot of athletic players every year, this teams seems like one of the least athletic teams we have ever had so we need to compensate by hitting a bunch of 3's which we havent done this year. We don't play defense very well and when we don't shoot well it is a recipe for disaster. We have our next 3 on the road, we need to win at least one of those to stay in the hunt for a tourney spot.

C’mon now give us some credit. We did knock off a Pac-12 Utah at their place and had a decent showing in OOC play. This is by far the best talent Katz has had while at Sac State.

I will say...you are much improved this year than in years past...

Don't be too hard in OldTime, Clawman. He means well. I think he is just frustrated and doesn't know better.
It was YOUR ridiculous stmt I was referring to. As oldtime said, if bad attitude is not the coaches fault why do we need a coach???

And he did a great job of out coaching us.

Ouch Clawman! I thought for sure you were referencing OldTime. Anywho, Hayford is the best coach in the Big Sky IMO. Sac got lucky escaping with a win.

I guess I should ask 1990 on what basis he makes the statement that Hayford is the best coach in the Big Sky. I cant think of one logical point that could be made in defense of that statement.

Sorry 274 career wins that were not at EWU.
I am all for the guys and am encourage by the kids we have but have not been impressed with what I have seen so far this year . . especially at the end of games. That is where you make/earn your money as a coach.
3-4 1-8 are not good anywhere. I am not calling for him to get fired or anything, but would like to see some improvement sooner rather than later. Especially when we start playing the same teams again during the last part of our schedule.

The evidence so far says coach Haywood is a good recruiter.

Now, we need to see game time execution. If any thing shows right now it is that we have poor execution on the defensive side of the ball.

Maybe we need a new assistant that can put that plan to work on the floor. Thru the first half of this season, with better athletes, there has been a much poorer execution on the floor than last year.

Maybe the boys in Germany and downunder are much farther behind when it comes to bending your knees and moving your feet with purpose. So far I have found last years team more fun to watch than this years.

Hey 1990, how many wins has Hayford been associated with in D1? D3 hoops and D1 hoops are as much alike as slow pitch softball and Major League Baseball. Not the same game.

And Clawman, along with big and little cliff, don't forget Griffin who might have been the best defender on the team.
