Sacramento St. vs North Dakota

Good Morning,

First, congratulations on your big win against Montana St. this past weekend. Big time comeback, and judging by the scores in most of your games, you guys are always in the mix until the end. I’m definitely looking forward to the game this weekend and certainly hope we can spoil the homecoming.

This past weekend was a big step forward for UND, not just in getting the win over #16 Cal Poly, but in playing a pretty complete, well rounded game. Up until this past weekend our offense has struggled to play consistent football through all 4 quarters of the game. Our defense on the other hand is stellar. We knew coming into this season that we would have the best front 7 in the Sky, but the surprise thus far has been our secondary. I believe we had 6 INTs all of last season and are already up around 10 or so.

UND comes in on a 3 game win streak with wins over South Dakota, Montana St. and Cal Poly. This is a bit of a sore spot because we are 4 points away from being undefeated. We lost our opener at Stony Brook by 3 after having a punt blocked for a TD, and we lost to FBS Bowling Green by 1 after going for a 2 pt conversion and the win as time expired, instead of kicking the XP and taking it to OT. On the flip side we had an OT game against South Dakota, and a nail biter against Montana St. So our record could also be worse than it is.

I don’t see this team allowing the kind of scoring, or offensive production that Sac St. saw last week against MT … then again, it is on your home turf. Unfortunately, UND lost its star running back last weekend on the second play of the game. Haven’t heard the official word yet, but it sounds like John Santiago will not play this weekend; hopefully back for homecoming, but we’ll see. Fortunately, UND shouldn’t miss John too much, as Brady Oliveira has been a stud the past few games. Santiago is the speedy slick back; Oliveira is like a big bowling ball. We also have Redshirt Freshman Austin Gordon who has stepped in nicely. Passing game took a nice step forward last week, so I look for them to build on that this weekend; though we did lose our top WR in the first game of the season to SBU.

I should probably wait until I see the injury report, so maybe this will change, but two teams coming off emotional wins, could be a trap game either way. Based on the improvement I have seen from UND as the season has progressed I’m going to go UND 38-20. That may seem pretty bold, and it could certainly be another close game, as so many of the games have been for both teams. I keep thinking that UND has to limit mistakes and win a game in a convincing way at some point. I nailed the score last week, so I hope I can go 2 for 2.

Anyone who want to talk football or is curious about UND’s team, just head over to siouxsports.com.

Probably not gonna see much chatter around these parts. The last few seasons of losing have really taken a toll on the enthusiasm for Hornet football, particularly here at Sac Buzz it seems

Jeez, not much chatter is right. I would have though ya might get a few people interested, as it is homecoming. Can I hope your crowd will be as quiet as your football forum? This team just won a huge comeback victory over Montana St. and showed that they are, at least, capable of more than what their record shows.

Get on board fans!

That being said, I really am hoping (but not counting on) this one gets out of control. Our team needs to hit a big offensive game, and finally win one by a decent margin.

For anyone going to the game ... Enjoy!

yep , the Sac State board is pretty quiet this fall.

Almost as quiet as Southern Utah were u normally find no posts and yet the T Birds won the Big Sky in football last year after being in the conference for only a handful of years. Go figure.

Happy 2016 Homecoming today to Sacramento State. Guessing the parties around our 300 acre beautiful campus along the banks of the American River are rocking right now on this simply amazingly beautiful California early fall day in the Central Valley. What a perfect night for a football game. Hope all the students, alum and local fans enjoy the game and the fireworks at halftime.

Go Hornets!!

Stingers Up!!!!

Went to the game and got my annual home game in, could only stomach the first half though. The coed action at the tailgate was the only notable positive of the night. The Hornets were ran off the field right from the get go. This team was completely unprepared on both sides of the ball and showed zero desire. Sad to see a performance like this following the fluke win over montucky state a week ago.

I'm glad we brought back the mosquito logo though. That was our logo when I started as a freshman so I affiliate that logo with a gawd awful football program. So after 14 years we are right back where we started (well probably worse)...coeds and all.

Thanks for coming out SJ, hope you enjoyed the seats. :thumb:

I'm more pissed that I had to pay to watch that pathetic performance. This coaching staff is completely lost and have no clue how to prepare kids for games. It was the same complaint Weber St fans had about Sears. It's time to move on from this joke of a coaching staff. The sad part is that North Dakota roster is almost as young as Hornets roster and they are only 5 points away from being undefeated this year. So using the excuse that we are young is getting old quickly, especially since we have not seen any improvement.

I thank you again SD! Those seats were pretty bleeping amazing. Made an unwatchable game bareable. I just wish I'd picked the right after party.

How much longer can Hornetland stomach this team? Homecoming and the MSU win gave us a nice attendance boost this week. Next home game will get a bump from CP bringing in their fans. I just wonder if they will out show us.
