Sacramento State at NAU football

Sacramento State is down to their 3rd string QB (who will start) and a converted defensive back (who did play QB in CC) as their 2nd string QB. The Hornets' leading running back is also out. I actually view these developments as making the Hornets more dangerous. This is a very well coached team with perhaps the best linebacker in FCS football and a stout defense. They have always played NAU very tough and have won two of the last three meetings between them. The Jacks need to be focused and strong for four quarters. NAU's run defense needs to continue their amazing play (allowing about 16 INCHES per carry) against the run and they need to put pressure on a young, third-string quarterback and hopefully force him to make mistakes. I like NAU in this game to "defend the turf."

Voice of the Jacks -

Greetings and welcome to the forum. Although it seems to be somewhere around 2-4 people posting here, it is nice to get some new perspectives.

Sacramento State is good. Better than their record shows from what I've read. Jacks defense continues to hold up but gives a bit more than last few games. 50 yards rushing for the Hornets. Jacks offense scores enough points and no blocked punts or kickoff returns by the opposing team this go round.

I'll go out on a limb and predict a 31-23 win for the Lumberjacks.

Haven't heard much from AggieJack recently....hope he didn't crawl in a hole after the end of the New Mexico State - U of New Mexico game last Saturday.

Go Jacks!

I missed the game. I was in Portland this weekend running the Portland marathon, which was an experience I will never forget. I have to admit, I'm a little surprised by the outcome of this game. I thought it would be much closer. Sac was playing well while NAU was barely winning games. It looks like NAU finally put together a solid game. Blowing SAC out of the skydome is no easy task. I see that they now have NAU ranked in the top 20 which is pretty cool. They have them ahead of Eastern W. which is a good sign. I hope they keep playing like this. As surprisning as the outcome of this game was, something that really shocked me was the loss of Montana. I really wasn't expecting that. What a crazy weekend!!
