Troy Taylor is their new head coach: https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/12/17/ex-cal-star-quarterback-is-sacramento-states-new-football-coach/

Whoa, either he took a pay cut or Sac State went all in. Sound like Taylor was pulling down a 525k base with a 87k bonus as OC at Utah last season.

Looks like a pretty good hire.

It may sound like the Kansas hillbilly roots are resurfacing regularily, but I'm always amazed at these salaries. 525 grand plus a $87000 bonus will literally buy you a flat (and not a modest one) in the middle of San Francisco. Hell, I'm not a minimal wage worker and have bought my own house as well, but hearing about such amounts of dough is always so... unreal.

Sac may have upped their offer a bit, but the scuttlebutt is that Taylor took a hefty cut to go home. He grew up in the Sacramento area and also coached at some of the high schools in the area. Said he is "thrilled" to go back. Could be coach-speak, but taking a big pay cut...maybe he will be a lifer.
