Sacramento State v Weber

Looking forward to another home game this weekend. Hoping we see continued progression from the offense and more dominant defense. Should be a good tune up for the next two road games.

Given how bad Sacramento has been this year, is this the last return of Jody Sears?

Sac is not as horrible as their record might indicate. They do have some good RBs who have big play capabilities. If you contain those RBs, their passing game is not good. They are certainly not up to the level of competition we have faced over the past several weeks, but the ball bounces funny sometimes. Just look at what happened to us in Flagstaff. I'm hoping for an injury free game. :coffee:

It seems like they’ve been hit hard by injuries and things have fallen apart for them recently. I haven’t watched any of their games. Their last four games:

Loss to Cal Poly 41-27
Loss to SUU 48-27
Loss to North Dakota 41-15
Loss to Portland State 41-14

They aren’t even competing with the worst teams in the conference lately. Cats need to get off to a fast start (unlike the Northern Colorado game) and put any thoughts of an upset away immediately. Sears is already an expert at losing at Stewart Stadium.

I laughed harder than I should have.
2012 5 losses
2013 3 losses
2015 1 loss
2016 1 loss

10 losses out of 12 games at Stewart Stadium

Game notes posted.

No changes to the depth chart. QB2 still shows Miles not Ricedorff even though Ricedorff had a few plays last week.

I watched quite a bit of their game with PSU. Sac's RBs looked good against PSUs D. However, I felt that they were doing it with little help from their O line. Those RBs are shifty and fast. There wouldn't be a hole, but they would bounce it outside and pick up good yardage. The key to stopping them is to not let them bounce it out, contain the edge. Looked to me like their passing attack will give up some ints. The biggest reason PSU was dominating them was Sac's D. They looked like they didn't want to be there and didn't know what was going on. It was one of the worst Ds I've seen this year. Looked to me like Bonneville High could run up some points on them. Our O should be chomping at the bit for this game. :coffee:

It's that time of year again. We get to start talking about how devastating the altitude is for California teams who travel to the intermountain area for a game. Sac is coming from a couple hundred feet above sea level to about 5,000 ft at Stewart Stadium. It probably does have an effect on them. Mostly, I think, in the second half of football games and maybe a little bit in basketball games. At least in football games, the players only have to run for a few seconds at a time. However, I am sure that it is in the backs of their minds.

I'm sure the defense will come to play as they have all season, I just hope the offense can continue to build on the last 1 1/2 games and continue to improve. Based on the scores from their previous games it looks like WSU should be able to gain some yards and put up some points.

Here is a new one!

Sac fans are calling for coaches heads before we play them! Can't wait to see what they will be saying after this game.

So far, the pattern has been for a teams fans to start calling for heads right after we beat them.

Game day. Hard to see a Sac State win here if Weber takes care of the ball and limits big plays.
Weber 34 Sac State 17

Take care of business and move on.

Weber cannot afford to look past anyone. Weber needs to strike early and keep striking. Dont even give the Hornets a glimmer of hope.

I want to see the offense put up some numbers today. If Weber can score 35 on North Dakota they should be able to put double that on Sacramento.

Here's hoping this wont be our last home game of the season.

Go Wildcats

Pretty ho-hum first half. Defense as always is playing lights out. Offense is playing good, but minor mistakes have cost touchdowns.

A win is a win, but the selfish man I am wanted a more dominating win than that. Defense played great again. Offense had moments but then looked like they did earlier this year with turnovers and bad passes. Also fix the playcalling, 3rd and less than a yard and you throw a pass for negative yards? What the fetch? Run the ball!

Other than that the special teams did thier job and the team still won. On to the team down south

I wouldnt say there were bad passes, other than the INT. Jake was 23/27 and 2 TD's. Rathen was 3/4. We had a team completion rating of 84%, so not really any bad passes except the INT. Now, we can both agree on the 3rd and inches minus yards pass...

There were a few throws that could have been picks had the defenders been paying attention. Those are the ones that got me cringing in the stadium

How many Constantine fumbles have turned into touchdowns for the defense? I count 3. It's a good thing we were playing Sac State. We can't afford to do that against good teams. Case in point... NAU...the difference in the game. OUCH! :twocents:
