Salanoa

Family is #1 and I'm glad he understands that! However, why take the job and leave after 3 months? It just doesn't make sense.

Eagles coaching staff has always preached family first. There is never a good time for this sort of thing, but I feel Reeder and Best are on the same page, they have went through installs during spring, and when they reconvene for practice they will be ready to go. Unfortunate, but I have faith that the staff will manage this fine.

I remember wondering if he was independently wealthy in taking this job...wonder if tough questions were asked in his interview(sorry, bad hire). Main concern is this Best not effect the team(can't help but think it will..losing the offensive coordinator). Sorry, this ticks me off unless there's an untold personal reason involved of major importance. Returning to his family that perhaps he should have never left.

Agreed. I do not know the family circumstances, but if this was just sudden decision to be closer to family, then he should never have committed to being our OC. Man, bumpy start to this 2017 season already.

Sorry, I guess I am failing to see this as a negative thing. You all had to know this was coming. When I found out his wife and 7 children weren't moving with him, I instantly knew he would not be here long. Didn't think it would be 3 months, but knew this would be short lived. We already have someone in his place, so we will be just fine. We've always adapted to adversity, and will do the same. I have no doubt, Coach Best is making this an easy transition for his players, and staff.

You are correct KHB. This is not a negative thing and he is putting his family first. Good luck to him in all his future endeavors. This is a solid, resilient program and this is only a small bump in the road.

GOEAGS!

I don't know...I hire people for critical leadership positions in my line of work, and before offering a job like this one, I would've needed a solid commitment for the season. I know sometimes people make commitments without the full realization of the emotional cost until it is upon them. But I don't see how losing a key coaching position in June isn't a negative thing. I don't know all the details, and there is often more to the story, but I don't see how this could be viewed as a positive thing. Hope none of the players were really buying into him. Let-down isn't a good thing for morale.

I wish Fred and his family the best. I'm guessing when he made the decision he didn't think it was going to end like this but I still respect the dude. As far as the eags go....not worried even a little bit about this team. We have strong character in the locker room and a QB that knows what he's doing. 98% of FCS teams would give anything to have what we have right now. I have a hunch about this Reeder guy too. I think we're going to be just fine.

NEXT MAN UP
go eags!

I don't think this departure is necessarily a positive thing, but do not view this as a negative one. Simply because I don't think he was here that long to make THAT much of an impact. Taylor was here a year, and during this past spring ball, the offense looked the same, BUT, with more intensity than before. No let down. I think it's all about whose at the helm, and Coach Best has already proven he's an effective leader. The culture he's created in a half of a year, has been incredibly awesome to see. He won't let morale fade, and has the players in mind, first. Sometimes things don't work out, it's as simple as that. We are too good of a program to let this get in our way. NEXT MAN UP!!!

Whenever there is turnover it is negative initially, time will tell how it affects the results later on. Much better that it happened now rather than Sept, Oct, or Nov.

WOW, This will be a learning experience for coach AB. On the field coaching A rating, coach hiring C-, but he will learn and get better. I am a great supporter for AB and know his teams will be some of the best in the nation.

I'd be concerned if Fred was an established play caller at this level. He wasn't. He was a question mark as well.

And, the question remains...are we getting a new OC before fall camp or is Best giving the reins over to Reeder for the season?

Is the C- due to the staff he hired or the fact that Salanoa already walked? We have not seen what they produce yet so it is early to judge their talent. I do agree Salanoa was a bad hire if he was not more committed than that.

I believe Reeder will be the coordinator. Salanoa was the tight ends coach, so that position will be rehired. I think Reeder was going to be the play caller even when Salanoa was here. Not sure about that part, though.

I figured that this would be how things progressed. I have faith in this offense, but I'm predicting a lot of second guessing of play calling by Eag fans as soon as we score less than 45.

I believe Reeder should trust Gage with a bunch of RPO's. GG is smart enough to get us into the right plays.
