San Jose State game

sjsu picked 9 of 10 in both polls

I'm excited to watch this game. It'll be interesting to see how the Cats respond to a DI team on the road. I think it is a great early season test.

San Jose State will come in at 0-2 with close losses at New Orleans 72-68 and at home to Houston 77-75.

I dont know how good New Olreans or Houston are, but this is gonna be a great early season test for the Wildcats, last time we played SJSU in San Jose it was kinda ugly, and the game here in Ogden last year was a very exciting game. I wonder if this game vs the Spartans is the beginning of a home and home contract between the two schools.

A win tomorrow would be huge and a great start to a 3 game road trip

this could be a great win for our program in 2013. while sjsu is no wac power its still a school in what is sort of considered a bigger conf, at least this yr still since usu and nmsu haevn't left yet for the mwc.

everyone knows any DI road win is great to pick up, ESPECIALLY so early in the year before most teams gel or become the team we all hope they can be. would be a great confidence boost going into the next game which is in logan. :thumb: 2-0 also would be pretty cool to see.

at sjsu the crowd is a non factor, they will probably have 500-1,000 at the game even if the box score shows 1,800  the only thing to watch out for is timeouts. the band is right next to the road team. they aim their instruments toward the team and play as loud as they can the whole timeout. its fun to see. road teams usually have to form a wall with the players to hear the coach.

Maybe it is a Big West thing, UC-Irvine also has their band right next to the visiting bench, and pointed toward the visitors during time outs.
BTW, UC-Irvine took UCLA into overtime last night and lost by a point, read they missed two free throws near the end. They hit the Dee in December....

I hate how a player can run into another initiating contact do a little flop dance and get freethrows. I hate actors.

The refs were doing a good job up until that call with 9 seconds left.

Also we had Zero, zip, zilch inside game last night. Tresnak missed everything (0-8) and almost every one of Joel's shots got blocked. Our only inside presence last night was Mook.

We took a lot of horrible shots last night and commited way too many turnovers, the good news is that it is only the 2nd game of the year the team is still learning to play together, and even though we shot so poorly and turned the ball over way too much, we still could have won that game and might have had the ref not bailed out that #1 for SJSU at the very end of the game. We can not play like this next saturday if we even want to think about beating the cows who also lost tonight at home 67-58 to St.Mary's

Also did anybody else who watched it on San Jose's website get sick and tired of listening to SJSU's announcers? Everytime San Jose State took a shot the guy commented about all the contact, yet everytime Weber's players got hacked he kept his mouth shut, this guy was worse than UNC's radio guy.

Based on the radio broadcast, sounded like in addition to no points from Weber's bigs, they had trouble handling the ball -- too many turnovers. I think the points will come. Fulton's return will help. Positives: Bolomboy's rebounding. Richardson being more agressive on the offensive end. And mostly, after being down 14 with 17 minutes to go on the road, they fought back and took it to OT. Can't wait to see them back home next month.

I agree on the "announcers" comments. No one is worse than the Montana guy for being a "homer" but the play by play guy regularly called out players that were not even in the game and the color comment guy had a good case of motor-mouth. I would have listened to the 1280 feed, but it was over 30 seconds delayed.

Speaking it 1280, I wish we were back to KLO coverage. I listened to the post-game and there seems to be no engineering on the broadcast. Commentary goes on and they break and stick in commercials with no notice. This year has not started well for radio, with the non-existent feed for 106.9 covered games and the poor management of the game flow....

I wrote a note to Jerry Bovee about how dysfunctional it seems, would suggest you do as well if you think the same way.

Radio coverage for basketball AND football has been PISS POOR ever since switching over to 1280. 1280 carries games for the Jazz, USU and WSU. Lets face it, they put WSU LAST on their priority list and it shows.

Was at the game. Weber didn't play bad at all. I think Kinney, and Cunningham the Santa Clara transfer will give USU fits when the Aggies play them in Jose.

I was very impressed with the 14 point comeback to send it into overtime for a young team still trying to gel.

A big question going into this season has been who's going to lead this team. Without a doubt Davion Berry looked like the emotional leader out there. After Bolomboy got rocked on the flagrant it was Berry who was slapping Joel's chest telling him he can makes these free throws as Joel was grimacing in pain. Berry hit the clutch 3 in ot. Bamforth shots will fall. Some of the claims on this thread about Bad shots, and Bamforth's play makes it obvious you weren't watching the game, maybe just radio or something.

My biggest concern was Tresnak, and Hajek played terrible. Bolomboy played the 2nd half at Center against a bigger Cunningham, as our 3 year centers sucked it up bad. Bolomboy turned into a rebounding machine as Kyle, and James sat on the bench. I don't know if Cunningham was an excellent defender or Tresnak, and Hajek just played that bad... Very concerning as Shaw may cause similar problems this weekend for Tres & James.

Even as Tresnak, and Hajek struggled against athletic bigs, Otis looked really good with quick attacking moves to the hoop all game.
