This is not Steve Nash's Santa Clara teams, although they are on a two game winning streak with wins over NAU and Ark-Pine Bluff. They did lose earlier in the year to DII Alaska Anchorage. They do have kids from all parts of the world. Even so, comparing them and Loyola Marymount who we just played, I would have thought the Lions would be a more difficult foe. Still, a road game is never easy.

Not sure how to take their three wins. One over a DIII program and two over some pretty terrible DI programs. NAU started off with their worst start of a season since the early 50s, and Arkansas - Pine Bluff is currently the opposite of undefeated for the season.

I'm hoping Farris will be able to play on Saturday.

I hope I'm not jinxing things, but Peery's first season is reminding me of Barnum's first, where with the majority of players were recruited by his predecessor and they kicked butt and took names. I hope that next season does not follow suit.

I think the question is this: Would we be 7-2 with Geving still as our head coach?

With Geving, we’d be 4-5 at best.

The problem with Barnum is that he is a hold over from a failed Nigel Burton program. He was part of the Nigel problem.

Peery is not a holdover from Geving’s staff.

As I recall, last year North was a high flyer and Canda was sure and steady, and both are resuming those roles this year. But I remember Farris last year and I was thinking that he had so much more to offer if he wanted to. Peery seems to have lit a fire in him this year. And Mayhew couldn't even get out on the court last year. They may have been recruited by Geving, but it seems Peery has them playing up to their potential.

And Woods...this kid could end up being something special in the conference. He knows how to play taller than he is. Go back and look at Lillard when he was a freshman at Weber. There are some similarities between the two. He doesn't mind mixing it up with the big guys, fighting them for a rebound. He is going to be fun to watch in the next few years.

Another come from behind win for the Viks. Surprised to see Mayhew miss two FTs in the final minute. Next up: Duckies.

Raced home from a holiday party to hope to catch the last of the game online. Update on my phone as I opened our front door told me of the victory. :-)

8-2!

Looks like Woods and North were a couple of beasts tonight.

As good as the Vikings were shooting in the 2nd half, they were just horrendous in the 1st half. No Farris (ankle) or Rumel (hip) this game and Edwards was ineffective. Small ball at it's best, with a little luck down the stretch! Go Viks!!
