Savor It

Dominant win today!!!

I’m all in, these guys are legit and I’m going to savor every second of the rest of this season, win or loss.

We need to throw down the gauntlet to all Hornet alums....Hornet Stadium need to sell out next week. Easily the biggest game in program history!!

Yes!!!

Like always, I’m still nervous even when the Hornets have a 2 or more score lead, waiting for something to change. Thought that might have happened when Thomson was intercepted in the end zone, but the defense did a great job of making the Bobcats work hard for everything they got and spend a lot of time doing. Fantastic goal line stand!!!

Offensively, as much talk as there has been about uptempo, it was surgical how the Hornets milked clock on every play the 2nd half while still churning out big 1st downs. Fantastic execution on their part.

Only negative is that they’re not producing much on the ground outside of Thomson on QB keepers. They need to create some lanes for Dotson who is long over due for a breakout game rushing it. But he’s still a big threat catching the ball.

All in all, it was a superb effort by all players and coaches wearing green. Biggest win of the season thus far!

Let’s hope they carry it through to next Saturday. Time to beat those Grizzlies! I’ll be out there. Who else????

Defensive and special teams stats haven't uploaded to NCAA.com yet, but their newly-posted recap tells the story: a pick of Rovig on the opening drive and an incredibly high Hornet 3rd down conversion rate (9/11). I also like Thomson's relatively efficient day in the air and on the ground (leading all rushers).

Now, THAT spells W-I-N just about any day of the week....

Savor it? I'm gonna roll around in the dirt and do dirt angels as if I've had a quarter of a century of football demons excorcised.

Yahoo! just posted ALL stats.

We had THREE punters, each with ONE punt, all three decent. Kicker Devon Medeiros booted one for 41, punter Sam Clark belted one for 52, and QB Jake Dunniway sent one for 47. That's all pretty good, but why the three?

That said, I DO like the idea of having a quarterback punt. Just his very presence back there forces the defense to honor the threat of a fake, which a pure punter often can't handle. Here's proof:

Man, I could watch THAT one all day long. It SHOULD have been flagged for the Texas Bulldog at the end, but in and of itself, that fake is incredible....

Actually, the punt by Dunniway was a pretty savvy move by Coach Taylor in that he opted to punt on 3rd and 10 while pinned deep inside his own territory just inside the 6.

Surprising move for a coach that was often criticized for not using conventional wisdom regarding punting the ball while deep within his own territory while at Folsom. He made the conventional decision but on an unconventional down ;)

It caught the Bobcats with their defensive personnel on the field and allowed a mediocre punt to roll out to near midfield. Also, no punt block rush to contend with.

And...looks like our guys are in the air on the way back to Sac! I'll bet it's one happy flight!

Glad to see you SacRat. Make a few dirt angels for me!

That was a dominating performance right there. Real shocked if we don’t end up in top 15. I watched on CW 31, the announcers kept wishing they would get it together, it was funny.

Been going to all the games in Sac so far, expect everyone on this board to show up Sat, it is going to be a good game, but we had a few injuries so will need good play from the 2nd teamers that will fill in.

This should be a great game this week!

Won't be there in person but will be there in spirit. We are planning on flying down for the Nov 2 game against Weber State though as well as making the drive to Moscow for the game at Idaho.

Stingers Up!

Are you sure any starters will miss time next week? Has anything official been announced??

Not sure but a few guys left the game and did not return.
