Score PREDICTIONS Game #3 - ISU @ Nevada

Week 3 we play our 2nd and last FBS game. Last week we got toasted on the score board, but had a lot of great things come out of the game.
Joe Martins 20 tackles, Ty Flanagan rushing for 100+ against a FBS team, and instead of hanging our heads in the forth quarter in defeat, we had some fight and endurance left and pushed hard to the end.

Nevada is 0-2 for the first time since 2009 (although that probably means they just always played their FCS team earlier then week 3).
Nevada is also struggling for consistency at QB and thus are trying a new Freshman QB this week.

Vegas Spread is Idaho State +30.5 over/under 58.5

My prediction is Bengals 24 Wolfpack 42
1 long pass
1 short pass
1 +/- 15 yard run
1 field goal
...we finally break out some offence against a FBS

Wolf Pack 48 - 21. it may be time to let our back up QB show case his stuff a little bit to see how he performs on the road against a FBS team. If we cannot score 14 points by half time it is time to change out QB's to see if he can generate some points on the score board. Can you dig it?

The only way an FCS team hangs with an FBS team is with a stud at QB. I remember a few years ago when we played Utah with Arias at QB we got killed on the scoreboard, mostly because of special team issues, but offensively we were every bit as good as they were, and that was because of Arias. I'm not saying that Gueller can't be a stud - he just needs to step up, with some confidence, and prove it.

Bengals - 21 Wolfpack - 44

A Freshman QB with no game experience for Wolfpack will Tom Brady us by 30 points? He must be good. I don't care about point spreads. The game can be closer than that.
I don't personally like predicting FCS blowouts--even if it happens.

ISU 28
UNR 35

Does Gunnar have the ability to scramble? Watching the first couple games, our offensive line is unable to sustain a pass protection for the required time to allow the receivers to get open. Gueller appears to be, not so swift on the scramble. I think it would be worth a shot to see how a scrambling qb would fair

Phenicie , etc have a 'What do you want to be when you grow up meeting'.....The defense plays out of their minds ..and the offense actually starts believing in themselves...all the emphasis on special teams this year pans out......upset special ......Bengals 31.....Wolfpack 24.....

Here is a dose of reality; 3 of 10, no td's for 30 percent, 6 carry for 22 yards and 1 touch down. 92 of 172, 8 td's for 53.5 percent. This is a comparison of Tanner and Amos's freshman statistic's. Being the backup is the easiest job in the world, you stand and send in plays, hold a clipboard, and you are the best thing since white bread. Reality; if you are a 30 or 40 percent passers and a average rusher you are not the answer. Our offense is based upon a passing game supported by our rushing game making both better. If you reduce the efficiency of any part of our offense it makes the other part less effective. Additionally, we have been missing a big part of our passing game so far this season. We have also played one game against a lower division team where we played everyone and an upper division where again we played everyone. Remember, division I drop downs transfer because they were beaten out for the starting position. Additionally, Idaho is not Texas A&M, the only ones I know of recruiting Amos at QB were Idaho and us.

Chris Murray of the Reno Gazette-Journal answered a Q&A to help scout the Wolf Pack. He made a score precidtion at the end: http://idahostatejournal.com/members/isu-football-q-a-with-nevada-beat-reporter-chris-murray/article_47ba46d6-2630-57ba-9257-79303c321559.html

.....thanks 'bill'.....I just 'had that feeling'....NOW ....let's hope it doesn't go to their heads.....and I don't think the coaches will let that happen...and let's go get a 'W' at Northern Colorado.....THEN we fill the dome for HC....Go Bengals !....
