Season Deux: Conference

At this point...I feel that the conference standings, best to worst, are:

1. Weber State...great balance between the backcourt and frontcourt. Team starting to move the ball around better and take high percentage shots. This without two starters. Once Mook and Bull return. YIKES!! Defensively the Cats need to maintain their focus. Offensively, keep moving and sharing the ball.
2. Montana...somewhat inconsistent. Tinkle is having a hard time finding someone who can take Qvales place. He needs to open up his offense more and let his team run. Very talented team. Tinkle needs to play the best players. Sheilds and Henderson should be seeing more time.
3. Montana State...very talented, but the problem remains. HUSE, he cannot get the talent to mesh.
4. Eastern Washington...No defense and no inside game. The team can move and are very athletic, but at this point all a team has to do is guard the perimeter well and run on Eastern and they win. Team ball wins games.
5. Portland State...Geving is still their coach. Yes, the man can recruit, but he isn't much of a coach. I hope he makes me eat my words.
6. Sacramento State...Katz is the opposite of Geving, he is a godo coach, but hasn't been able to recruit. He gets the most out of his players, but they are always two steps behind everyone else. Maybe with Eberhard, Veteto, Dickson, and Garrity Sac can make a tourny appearance.
7. Northern Colorado...talented and young. UNCO could make the tourny and shock me, but I don't think it will happen this season. Hill is a better coach than what I was giving him credit for and he is showing his ability. Defense is troubling for the Cubs. They can move the ball and score, but once the run into some athleticism they fall apart.
8. Northern Arizona...No bigs...can't do much without an inside game. Huge, SHOCKING, win over ASU. There is potential in Flagstaff.
9. Idaho State...Looking for a new coach. Yes, there are some pieces that can pull off W's. Nobody in the Sky is a walkover. I think, since they don't have much to play for, this team can and will shock some folks.

2-9 is anyones game...

I think you are right about 2-9 being up for grabs. To be honest, I think 2-5 could be up for grabs. Other than WSU, the whole conference isn't impressing me right now (although it's always hard to judge non-conference play). I think Portland State might be a little more dangerous than expected. They are a great rebounding team and that first road game in Portland will be no cakewalk without Bull or Mook. I'm more nervous about them than any other Big Sky team at the moment.
