"Secret Game"

Weber had a secret scrimmage against Arizona State today. The article doesn't specifically say where the game was but my guess is that it was in Tempe. ASU will be better this year than their preseason predictions. Not many individual details about Weber but looks like they only lost by 3 in the second 20 minute game they played.

Interesting......

Publishing those sorts of things is supposed to be an NCAA violation. I guess not if you are PAC12. Everyone else would get in trouble for doing what they just did.

The NCAA is a paper tiger when it comes to most P5 schools. :wtf:

It's permissible to discuss what happens in practice scrimmages after the scrimmage is over.

I had heard otherwise, in regards to these scrimmages against other schools that take the place of the second exhibition game. I was told that there was to be no press releases, no conversations to the public about it, no official record keeping about it and no witnesses. other than coaches and officials. I guess you are saying that the rules have changed since they originally allowed these 'secret' meetings between teams. These things are not a practice or an intra squad scrimmage. They have their own set of rules. Look again. :coffee:

Olds, if compliance says it's okay, I'm thinking it is. What we should be asking, is if schools can publish results and information why isn't Weber? The first game didn't go so well but the second did. Why? I want to know more details.

They are, by definition, practice scrimmages.

To address one of your other points, last year, the NCAA relaxed its interpretation of these informal practice scrimmages to say that there are no longer restrictions on publicity of the scrimmages after they happen.

Thanks, Compliance. Prior to that latest reinterpretation, no release to the press was allowed. Maybe we should be seeing something in the Standard????? :coffee:

There is a little blurb on the super secret scrimmage with ASU in this release on the upcoming exhibition game.
