seeding?

This may be a little presumptuous on my part but if we win the Big Sky tournament is it pretty much a foregone conclusion that we will be the 16 seed in the region? Are teams kept within their geographic region? If that is the case the Eagles may be in the same region as Gonzaga. If the Eagles are seeded 16 would they likely play Gonzaga in the first round? If there is any chance of a higher seed we need to win out.

The PSU loss really hurts us in that regard. It will be interesting to see how much the Indiana win will help. I would say 15 seed, with an outside shot at 14.

We had an RPI of 54 going into the Portland State fiasco. I think Eastern would have been 12 or so if they won out from there. I don't think a 16 would happen unless we win the conf tourney but lose a few more between now and then. But that PortlandState loss hurts...

I agree, every loss is huge. If we hope to win a game in the playoffs we need to have the highest seed possible and losing games to the likes of PSU make that much less likely.

Looking at the most recent top 25 polls and particularly the top 10 teams, I think the Eagles need to be at least a 14 seed to have a legit shot at pulling an upset. From here on out we want the Eagles, Vikings and Sacramento State to win out in the regular season and advance in the Big Sky Tourney as far as it takes to lose to Eastern again.

Right now our RPI is about 75, which would likely make us a 15 or 16 seed. It will go up if we keep winning and if our opponents keep winning as well. If we can get back into the high 50's or low 60's we could get up into that 12-14 seed range...

Also if you were interested, I have broken down what needs to happen for the Eagles to eliminate each Big Sky team from possibly hosting the tournament. http://bit.ly/17ISNgd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2 more Eagle wins makes this entirely a 4 team race.

*edit: helps to add the link!*

They don't focus too much on regionalization unless you are a top 4 seed, so Gonzaga will be in the West Bracket, Kentucky in their region...

As far as Eastern, our RPI is way to good to be a 16 or even a 15 seed. Eastern can probably still lose one game down the stretch but if we win the conference tourney, we are probably a 13 or 14 seed. Outside shot at a 12 seed depending on how we do and how other mid majors do...

ESPN currently has us at a 14 seed

Man I hope you are right. We win the Conference tourney and manage to get healthy *fingers crossed* we should scare the bejeezus out of any 3 to 5 seed we manage to draw. I basically think we have a legit shot to play with any team outside the top 10, so that seeding is critical if we make it that far.

ESPN currently has Eastern as a 14 seed opening against Utah in Portland. Honestly, I'd say that is about accurate. Eastern needs to go on quite a run to show the committee that the Portland State game was an aberration.
