That seems pretty harmless, doesn't it? Sounds like there might be some details missing or it's being blown completely out of proportion - in this case, I hope there is a cover up going on and some details were left out of the story. Who is going to discipline kids for this incident as it has been reported? They are kids still and are prone to do stupid things and I can hardly say this was a stupid act.

I can't believe an incident like that would not only make the news but make ESPN national news?!?! What's next? We interrupt this regularly scheduled program for this important breaking news story - Today at EWU four Seniors were suspended for being upperclassmen. Reportedly, all seniors were once freshmen but have since become upperclassmen leaving the incoming freshmen feeling bad.

C'mon people, no harm in a little duct tape for an entire 10 mins - YES there are limits, but this incident from the outside looking in, does NOT look to have done any permanent damage to anyone.

There's a big difference between some pranks like this and beating someone to death. Still, if the school has a zero-tolerance stance on these sort of things, they're kind of compelled to do something when this sort of thing happens. Make 'em run some extra laps or something, it doesn't seem to be that big a deal to me.

Oh my goodness, they duct taped a couple of them to each other by their legs ... and they actually referred this to a prosecutor for consideration of filing criminal charges! I get it - no hazing. Run some laps, do some up/downs and get on with it.

No more dodge ball at recess, can't have cut sports cause someone's feelings might be hurt, everyone gets a trophy and aren't we special. It's no wonder we're turning into a nation of whiners and wussies!

Man...we used to pull stuff that was definitely worse than this. It was never arbitrary, but without fail, each year some kid would come in thinking he was above the rules and above the team. That attitude got squashed real quick.

As for whiners and wussies, I agree. Unfortunately, my old HS coach just got canned after pressure from outlier parent groups who decided that their sons were being abused and discriminated against simply because they weren't good enough to play, or didn't work hard enough. It's this bullshit attitude of entitlement that makes my skin crawl... F you, the world isn't fair, and nobody owes you a thing. If you want something bad enough, be crazy enough to do what's necessary and sane enough to realize that sometimes, it'll never be enough. Bah. :ohno:
