I would think that Weber looks for a couple possible transfers every year. Last good transfer that came to Weber was Lance in 04.
can you imagine if we could get another lance caliber transfer? he came from utah and had 2 yrs left for us. that would be legit! lance was 6'11, 260, his senior yr at wsu. he was top 3 in the nation the entire year for rebounding. him, bogut and milsap traded off every week. Lance was a 1st teamer his senior yr.
all the DI transfers this past decade were...or at least all i can remember back to 2002:
Obvoiusly
lance allred who played in 2004 and 2005 and redshirted in 2003 during our 16-0 season.
before lance was
Slobodan who transferred from Ohio St and had 2 years with us and was a 2 time 1st team all-big sky (2003, 2004).
in 2006 we signed
melvin tyler jones, a transfer from st. john's. he redshirted the first year and then after we hired our new coach he was gone. sounded like he was a good player but he had off the court issues.
in 2007 we signed
josh cottle a transfer from Utah Valley.
My second favorite tranfer after Lance would be
Coric Riggs!
Riggs transferred to WSU as a jr in 2004-05. Riggs played as a fresh for Louisville, played at Dixie St his soph yr then came to weber. We was the first high light reel at WSU this past decade. Luckily for us we had Daviin Davis the next yr then for 2 more years and then Franklin Session this past year. I hope we dont have dunking with drawls in 2010. Maybe someone new can step up. Riggs was a 1st teamer as a senior. we also cant forget about Dunkin David Patten.
Also in 2004-05 we signed a player who played as a freshman at Pepperdine by the name of
Dave Patten. this was an interesting player. every season he had a different hair due. facial hair included. he played his first 2 yrs as a wing, he was pretty good and could shoot the long ball. We hired Rahe Patten's senior year.
Rahe moved patten to the 4, this seemed a bit strange to us at first then again did we really have anyone else to play the 4? Panos was 18 yr old fresh and the only other option was tyler billings, a jr JC transfer that we didn't know much about yet.
Well it was a match made in heaven. Not only was "the general" a first teamer, he was the big sky MVP. he led the nation in dunks and has the school record for one year with 54. he took 7th place in the espn college dunk contest too.
to put those 54 dunks in perspective, it was 1/3 of all his FG's made. he had one game with 7 dunks and another with 6. as good as session's dunking was in 2010 i believe he had under 35 dunks.
Last but not least...
TALMADGE "3 STEALS IN ONE GAME" (not 4 lol) EYRE. Tal played as a fresh at BYU then after a mission went to SLCC. I think he was signed by Reid and then Cleveland was the coach when he got back. After one year at SLCC tal came to WSU to play for 2 years (2002, 2003).
I guess Tal isn't last, the most recent DI tranfer to WSU currently is
Danny Johnson (2008). He was a Utah boy who played a freshman season at Idaho State. After a mission he came to Weber and played 1 season and then transferred to Utah but not to play sports. Jake Orchard also transferred to utah after his redshirt year at WSU as a fresh. He was a soph walkon receiver or tightend for the utes in 2009.
if we do sign another DI transfer i wonder if we will find out soon?
