I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Next years schedule is really daunting, but I'm excited about what I'm seeing with our recruiting class. We will know more tomorrow. Heard that Mikey is really invested in becoming a better coach. If so, I highly recommend that he invests time toward becoming more professional and advocate that he focus on better team discipline.

Offensively we will most certainly be better. Offensive line returning, mostly intact and some good additions coming in and up. Most of the WR corp returning. Solid RBs returning. Two D1 transfer QBs coming in. One 6'4'', 210 with a good arm and running ability with 4 years eligibility, one 6'3'', 220, with a good arm and great running ability, with 3 years eligibility. Also a 3* HS QB who looks really good to go along with a solid returning Jr QB. TEs look okay, but we have less experience returning there.

Defensively, we have a lot more questions to be answered. However, we have had some really good transfers and the recruiting class looks solid. The defensive coaches have their work cut out for them. New players, new coaches, and I'm hopeful for a new level of commitment.

Special teams need a return to being special. Last season was anything but. There again, we need a new level of commitment.

Yes, the schedule is difficult, but it always is. It just needs to be attacked with a new level of commitment.

Do I sound like a broken record? ;-)

Reggie Frischknecht - Snow College - WR
Dave Brinton - Corner Canyon HS - LB
Hoyt Pula - Syracuse HS - DL
Oscar Dominguez - South Summit HS - K
Josh Hardy - North Carolina A&T - DE
Cash McCollum - U of North Texas - QB
Ian Elmore - Weber HS - S
Sione Moa - BYU - LB

Sione Hala - Boston College - LB
Justin Lutz - Iowa Western - LS
Jackson Gilkey - UT San Antonio - QB
Zion Finua - Corner Canyon HS - DT
Davonta Morgan Collins - Dallas Madison HS - CB

There are probably more. Anyone know much about these players?

Recruiting classes always look good on paper. The proof will come in actual competition. Looks to me like we made a step up in size, speed and strength from what we lost to the portal and graduation. Experience is thin on most of these guys, so we may not know much until the third or fourth game. With a lot of new coaches, it makes it all the more unpredictable.

In looking at the limited video and stats on some of these guys, There seems to be some real potential and talent there. Mix that in with what we have returning and I like the potential.

I was expecting a transfer running back and we may still get that. The transfer market is open until summer. There will also be several more HS kids added, either as walk ons or something else. There are still some roster issues to be resolved by the BSC, the NCAA, and the courts. Still a few unknowns.

Lets not forget about our December signees:

TY Hunter OL
Alijah Bray OT
Branden Meza OL
Chevy Robinson DE
Kingston Tisdell QB

Possible returning mission kid:

Koa Bowers LB

We did lose three guys (a potential starter) to ISU:
Cade Clyde (signed before his mission)
Bronson Childs (probably thought he had a chance at the Y)
Jagger Childs

I really like Coach Dale. He is one of the nicest guys I know and will sit down and talk to anyone. SUCH a CLASS ACT. However, I really hope we didn't lose the better coach to ISU in Grant Duff.

ISSUES: No signing day party? No excitement about the process? A chance to talk about the guys who committed to Weber and get our fans pumped up? A chance to talk about the upcoming spring season and next Fall? A chance to meet with donors, build relationships with potential sponsors, invite civic and area leaders and get students excited about our next step? We need coaches who want to walk around campus getting students, staff and faculty excited about games and the program. We need coaches who expect players to support other athletic teams and who act as ambassadors in our community. We NEED more community involvement. Signing Day is an easy one folks. This is a gimmie.

This is my issue with our athletics program. Nobody wants to talk. Nobody wants to do the simple and easy things. I saw ISU's party. They signed 37 kids yesterday. That's not the point. Even if it is only 1 kid, there needs to be something. They were excited. Invited fans, former players, boosters, students, parents and the community to talk Bengal Football. Frankly, they are doing what needs to be done to improve. Pocatello is a hard sale. ISU hasn't put much into athletics for a while, but it seems like they learned from the JAY HILL years, what needs to happen to be successful. Sad to say it, but Weber needs a serious enema right now.
