Sir Velo's 2022 Weekly Big Sky Tournament Bracket

I think this is a pretty accurate bracket. I do think we match up a little better with UNC in the semi final game. I would cheer for Bears to beat the Bobs in that game, but I think Bobs are a little better. I would love to see us kick SUU's ass in the final and send them on their merry way to the WAC.

the only thing all other 10 teams will agree on when seeing this bracket would be we all badly want suu to head to the wac without any trophies from 2022.
UND won it their last yr, in reno, that was annoying. northridge did the same back in 2001. boise/nevada/gonazaga/idaho(lol) i dont know.

The second round match up is the one to watch. Montana, montana state, or SUU.
Any would be difficult, not sure which is the better draw for Weber, but my guess is SUU. It will probably come down to Weber and Montana at some point.

Strange things often happen in tournaments. I see 5 or 6 teams that could get hot and win it. I don't see any scenario where one of the bottom 5 teams have a shot. It would be extremely hard for a poor team to put together 4 upsets in one week. Just another reason that this tournament sucks.

What does it look like next year?

1st & 2nd get a bye to the semi finals. 3rd - 10th play two rounds to send 2 teams on. Seems the only fair way to do it, if you have to run the dang thing at all. :coffee: :coffee:

FEB 18

Remaining games for the top 3:

WSU: UNC, @PSU, @NAU, SUU
MSU: @SUU, @UM, SUU, Sac, UNC
SUU: MSU, @NAU, UM, @MSU, @ISU, @Weber

EWU has been one of the hottest teams in the BSC lately. I can see them getting the 5th seed and Montana dropping to the 6th seed. To me, they have been the biggest surprise this year. Nobody expected them to do this well. Another surprise has been UI. Nobody expected them to win a game, let alone 4, at this point of the season.

I stand by my earlier statement that 4 losses will get you at least a share of the championship. :coffee:

I agree. EWU scares me the most. If we have to play them in Boise I hope its on Saturday night in the Championship. For 2 reasons, they are really hot right now and I don't think we match up that well with the Apple Eaters. I would much rather play the Grizz, Bears or SUU in the semi game on Friday night.

The championship that means anything will be won on Saturday night of the tournament. Weber and MSU should be the favorites. Outside those two lots of contenders and spoilers based on recent games within the conference. My Griz looking among the weakest at the moment.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers over here and get a couple threads longer than 7 posts going.

All I care about, Mouse, is that UM brings their A game against MSU in that Sunday game. Depending on how things shake out, it may be better going to Boise as the second seed.

The regular season champion is still the champion and is assured of post season play. Making the Dance is nice, but it is in second place as far as team goals go. Champions are champions, plain and simple. One gets you a ring and the other gets one more polka at the dance. :coffee:

Griz tried to do their part. "Champions"??" Get a ring?" "One more polka at the dance?" You still talking abut talent-laden Weber and their all-time Big Sky Conference winning coach?

Sounds like the Grizz had a good 'Pride' game against MSU, who will likely be the champs. It looks good for the Grizz to win that 5th and final bye. Weber had its chances, but couldn't get it done. The bottom of the BSC has pulled itself up and the top has shown its vulnerability. Boise will be interesting. Winning in Boise is still second best to winning the championship. IMHO, Boise is a waste of time and money.

I won’t go to Boyzee. The game should be in Bozeman (if things stay as they are). Screw the neutral site!

Remaining games for the top 3:

WSU: SUU
MSU: Sac, UNC
UNC: @UM, @MSU
SUU: @ISU, @Weber

*bottom left is a mistake showing ewu/sac. didnt care to fix it :)

1. msu - first even if lose to unc
2. wsu/suu/unc tied

if wsu beats suu and unc beats msu in bozeman we get 3rd said hein last night

if we win and unc lose we are 2nd.

i think if suu wins and unc loses, suu are 2nd, not sure if it puts us 4th. mostly i dont care about seed if its not #1.

we really need to beat suu, its the last ever suu sky game in ogden. losing this game wont get us too excited for boise. after winning 8 in a row it was a lot of fun, but since then we have gone 2-5, wins over sac/nau.'

get 2nd place and you are probably playing psu in the quarterfinal instead of griz.
