Greetings Vikings fans,

This is Colter Nuanez. I am the director of creativity and senior writer for Skyline Sports (skylinesportsmt.com), a new newspaper-style online publication covering the Big Sky Conference. With our new endeavor, we will have beat reporting on Montana State along with weekly podcasts and features about the rest of the Big Sky. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I'll be providing Portland State features and coverage throughout the season.

Our goal is to be able to cover the entire league with the same prevalence as we give to the flagship schools. Any interest we can get going at PSU would be a huge plus. Thanks for reading, nice to meet you and don't hesitate to drop a line with comments or questions.

The Skyline Conference would be an improvement in terms of a conference name. Any name that refers to one member state to the exclusion of all the others is a name founded in error. Whoever originated this name was clearly lost and is to be pitied for their high degree of limited imagination.

This conference, thus, has a tradition of being founded on a nomenclature of foolishness. For this reason, it needs to improve it's image. It needs a new name collectivizing the entire West.

The name Big Sky was recommended by Idaho State's legendary coach Holt (of whom their multi-purpose facility Holt Arena is named for) and was decided unanimously by the six charter schools in 1963.

Most of the conference news centers around Montana and Montana State. This new site even said they will have a beat reporter for Montana State which means we will know everything we ever thought we needed to know about the Bobcats. Combine that with the two main FCS sites supported by Missoula Media (heck, even this site is controlled by Missoula Media). Watching the games on ROOT sports (of which Montana and Montana State are shown almost exclusively), we get non-stop advertising from Montana companies. Based on this, is it any wonder why it is called "Big Sky" Conference?

Scott has proven to be a competent writer on PSU athletics. It would be great if some of these national FCS sites would pick up on them, and if this new site knew anything, they would cite some of Scott's stories under their PSU coverage.

They lost me at the "MSU and Cal Poly are expected to contend with EWU for the crown". I, too, don't like the Griz, but I would at least let them in the conversation, especially after last Saturday.

Still, any coverage is better than no coverage. Enjoyed the capsule on Fort Lewis, who are they playing again?
