So... When does football start?

Playing defense like they got a stick somewhere it shouldn't be. I knew we were going to lose when I saw the starting lineup. We don't even begin trying to play D until we are 10 points down, and then there is always one or two guys who just don't get it. I'm not going to name anyone because it really is quite evident. I think that the coaches need to step back a mile or two and re-evaluate things. They are too close to the problem. They can't see the forest for the trees. :shocking:

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Football!! In all seriousness, I am excited to see what Hill does next Fall.

Anyway, totally agree with you. The coaches need to take a huge step back and reevaluate the issue. They recruited this team to run. So...and it doesn't take an Einstein to realize this, LET them run. 40 secs to go down, what 5, and Duft is calling a play from the sidelines?? Seriously?? Put the stupid cards away and let the team run. The team had just taken a timeout, can't the coaches give them a play? A, "this is what I want to see once we get the ball back," other than look at the cards, slow down the offense, go into a half-court set, with 40secs left and down by 5. SMART?? :thumb:

Had to happen and Congrats to coach hill! Weber is now a football school!

 A 2-10 season with a promising young coach does not make Weber a football school. But I am excited to see what he does in year two.

This is a complete aberration season for Weber State basketball. It had to happen eventually. We have been really fortunate for 8 years. Yes, some serious changes need to happen for the team to recover, but I think it will happen. Not this year, maybe next year. I'm just hoping to get into the conference tournament.

If we were BUILT TO RUN, why do we walk the ball down the court :wall: :wall: (when not being trapped or pressed), allowing the defense to set up so we can run our sets against them? Why not push the ball q-u-i-c-k to see if we can get a guard like Gittens or a big in position off the break? The Cats seem to have gotten so slow, get so many single shots and no boards, like no one is comfortable to be the "scorer".

I agree to put Joel back in the 4 and let Hajek be the post. Make teams stop them, and if double teamed, our perimeter shooters should be open. I don't want get on Golden, but his shot selection and finish have been under what was expected...

I think it's a much more basic problem, maybe they can't see the forest for the leaves!

I agree, Tal, they need to run-- if they have even the slightest amount of time to wonder what to do, they'll turn it over or take a (usually) forced, poor shot. How are they going to run, though? They are still nearly paralyzed at the site of pressure. We've seen them do better at controlling the ball against a press but we almost never see them attack one!

Wow. I never thought I'd see this as a thread topic. We are spoiled. Too many years of hoops success, and we have one pedestrian season (albeit still not over), and we're already looking to football season. I'm excited for football, too, and this year's basketball team is very uninspiring, but this headline caught me off-guard.
