I've perused some of their other fan forums/boards. This is by far the most entertaining and sane one that I sampled.

Do you have a link to the Ole Miss/NAU shirt, please. I must be blind. Or just stupid.

I was surprised to find out that Oxford's not only smaller than Flagstaff but has a lower crime rate.

Take wikipedia for what it's worth but there was some useful trivia here as well.

I could only fantasize that three Miss America's went to NAU when I was in Flagstaff. I'm actually a little bit jealous of this fact.

I'm not going to bag on their academic standards as I know what my approach to academia was my freshman year. I also know how "motivated" a lot of my friends and classmates were when I lived in Flagstaff. I like to believe that NAU's a tad bit above ASU in academics but state schools are what they are. I think the only school's with legitimate beef are private institutions.

I've heard some crazy horror stories from friends about SEC fans but I don't think that previous misconception applies with the folks on redcuprebellion.

Hotty Toddy, it's Ole Miss week! Hello Lumberjacks, welcome to the SEC! :]

Some links for ya..
Yes, Wikipedia but I've read over these and for the most part, they are correct..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Ole_Miss_Rebels_football_team

Described as "the Holy Grail of tailgating sites" by Sporting News, The New York Times called The Grove "the mother and mistress of outdoor ritual mayhem" - so if you're coming to the game, this is it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grove_(Ole_Miss)

And at Ole Miss, "Hotty Toddy" isn't just a drink. You will hear the cheer often. Don't be alarmed when someone screams out, "ARE YOU READY?!"

Hotty Toddy
Are you ready?
Hell yes! Damn Right!
Hotty Toddy, Gosh almighty
Who the hell are we, Hey!
Flim Flam, Bim Bam
OLE MISS BY DAMN!

Also, while yes you can watch the game on ESPN Game Plan, it'll also be broadcast on CSS (Comcast Sports). Not sure if you'll get that in Arizona but if you're an NAU fan somewhere in the South, you should be able to find it.

Looking forward to this game. Obviously there's the whole "gimme-game" to this one but I always like it when we play a team we've never played before.. which is the case for all 3 of our non-conference games this year. I'm also really interested in seeing Michael Herrick play since we didn't get a chance to see him before he transferred from Ole Miss to NAU.

Here is the link. And seems to me like you would have rather attended Ole Miss than NAU.

Ive also got a question from Ole Miss, what will the attendance be like for Saturdays game? Sold out?

Heh. Thanks for the link to the shirt, mrg85.

I know I'd really enjoy a visit to an SEC school for a football game but a visit only.I was quite happy with the time I spent in Flagstaff/NAU and have absolutely no regrets about trying to go anywhere else. The only thing worse than 90-120 degree temps in the desert is 90-100 degree temps with 90% humidity added on top in the deep South. Flagstaff was the perfect town for me to go to college. And I was always glad that people in Phoenix and Tucson didn't get it because if they did, Flagstaff wouldn't be Flagstaff anymore.

By the way, you're involved in the Jack Pack, right? From what I've seen at the two football games and the one soccer match this year I've attended this year, the student body has stepped up their support for athletics. Hope you all can keep it up in the spring for basketball.

Oh....and thanks for the input, OleMissByDamn. It's appreciated.

What's the term "hotty toddy" mean?

I better start scrounging for a sports bar that has ESPN Game Plan. Pretty sure I'm not able to get ESPN 360 where I live in the boondocks here in AZ. I may have to fall back on listening on the radio, which is better than nothing.

Well, to be honest, it has been disappointing somewhat this year. The media had us so overrated and most of our fanbase bought into it that when we lost to South Carolina - our first SEC game of the season - the fanbase through in the towel then and there. Which means for non-conference games, they slowly trickle in from The Grove in the first quarter, see we are winning by 20 at the half and half the fans stay in The Grove or go home. The stadium officially seats 60,580. For our other 2 non-conference games we had announced attendance of 58,119 (for Southeastern Louisiana, aka SELA) and 47,612 (for Alabama-Birmingham aka UAB). Almost 60,000 for SELA was impressive but it was before our first SEC game (and loss) hence the dramatic drop against UAB. The UAB game was horrible on television. The stadium looked so empty because the fans were off partying in The Grove. Checkout the attendance for each game under the Schedule section of the 2009 Ole Miss Rebels football team Wikipedia link I posted previously.

Well, it may mean different things for different people but as a child, a hotty toddy was a whiskey/honey/lemon concoction heated on the stove that mom and dad gave me when I was sick and it would make me sleep. It's also known as a Hot toddy and Wikipedia says: Hot toddy is a name given to a mixed drink that is served hot, believed to have originated in the 18th century to make the taste of Scotch more palatable to women.

As to ESPN360, it should be available to you as it's an internet only thing. As long as you have a high speed connection and a membership (I think you have to have a membership since it's touted as being "included free for Comcast High Speed Internet Customers" which I am). I've used it to watch a couple of games that weren't on TV and it's actually not bad at all - as long as you have a comfortable chair at your computer. Check it out at http://www.espn360.com.
