I'm expecting a loss in this one. SDSU was 24-11 last season (13-0 at home) and are picked to win the Summit League this season (return 11 players, including 4 starters). This would be a good win for Weber but I just don't see a Randy Rahe coached team going on the road during the non-conference season and winning against a really solid opponent.

FYI, it was announced that Williams, Dallas, John, and Hunter will red shirt.

Yeah...I agree with you on this one SWeber. I don't see the Cats really going into, Vermillion?, and getting a W. SDSU is a really solid mid-major. Besides, they have a coach who is willing to make adjustments.

Yikes...Vermillion is where USD is located. Brookings is where the Cats are visiting.

I really like SDSU's program and what they are doing right now. They are doing things the right way and really making a mark for the Summit League. I wish the Sky could get their crap together and make basketball a bigger priority, but...

SDSU opened as a 10 point favorite. The line is down to 7 for the Jacks.

Their starting line up goes 6'9, 6'6, 6'5, 6'4, 6'1. They bring a 6'9 guy off the bench for good minutes.

We might be able to over match them down low. I think we should start Gittens and have him defend Bittle their 6'4 guard who can go off from anywhere on the court. They shot 7-21 from 3 against their D2 opponent. They only shot 54% from the foul line. That might work in our favor. Braxton or Hill needs to step up and give us more than 2 rebounds. Joel can't afford three goaltending calls again.

I don't think winning this game is probable, but I'm telling you we have a chance.

Who I would start for tonight's game:
1. Jeremy Senglin
2. Richaud Gittens
3. Dusty Baker
4. Joel Bolomboy
5. Zach Braxton

Top three off bench:
McKay Cannon
Ryan Richardson
Kyndahl Hill

Would like to see Jeremiah Jefferson get some court time, but I doubt we see that tonight. Most likely will happen on Thursday. By the way, I am kinda shocked about Cody John. From the SVU game, it seemed like he would see the floor and play a lot with Cannon. Guess we will see that a lot next year.

Bunch of crap that you have to pay $7 to watch the game. I think Weber needs to return the favor on Dec 22.

I'd stick with the same starting line-up. I was listening to Rahe before the USU game (on 1280) talking about how he likes having Gittens and Hill come off the bench since that gives him some experience off the bench. I think that helps. I'm hoping Richardson gets a couple of early open looks from 3 tonight and knocks them down. He needs the confidence booster.
Despite the loss on Friday, I really like the look of this team. They actually played better than I thought they would. I was really impressed by both Baker and Cannon. And I think Braxton will develop as the season progresses and he learns to avoid the cheap fouls.

Is anyone getting the feed for free?

It costs money. That tweet you posted says "for a fee," not "free." :)

I was thinking the exact same thing. Even if I could watch this game for free, I wouldn't (at this point). Not surprising, but still disappointing.

We should all prepare for another 8th place finish in the Big Sky. And then this coming October, we will be Inexplicably named preseason favorites to win the 2016-17 title.

Wow...defense is terrible. Interior defense is beyond awful. Once again, we desperately need a bigs coach. Since Beckner left, this team has been soft.

22 turnovers, 40 points in the paint, and the Rabbits have 12 more shots than the Cats. Great night by the Cats.

Anyone else find it difficult to listen to Paul Grua on the radio? I almost have to turn the radio off. He just spouts off random facts that are not relevant to the games. He is seriously worse at color commentary than Brad Larson.

As for the game...... Typical Rahe coached team. Cant win any meaningful games in the pre-season, dominates a weaker Big Sky schedule and cant win the important games post-season. 10 years of this garbage. Is getting a 20 win season all that cool when 19 games are against BSC teams and a NAIA school? I am growing very tired of Rahe not getting things done during the pre/post season games. Why can other schools have success but not WSU? Look at his resume against in-state schools. Its pathetic. How does on expect to grow a fan base and recruit local/ talented players, not just athletic kids? Between a poor, poor schedule, and not winning those games, I am in dire need of something from Rahe. Rahe has played USU like 12 times, and only beat them twice. He has never beat BYU.... 0-9, soon to be 0-10. Plays an even record to UVU, and has lost two straight to SUU. It is just disgusting to look at. Does WSU ever beat USU or BYU again? Money should be taken from Rahe's pay for every in-state game he loses. I am not sold on his coaching ability, even after all these years. He simply can not develop players. He is stubborn and lacks in-game strategy. Cant break a zone, cant break the press, cant finish off games and cant win the important games. WSU will continue to be stagnant and stay even with this garbage like we are seeing tonight. I honestly am more excited about the football program than the basketball team. I don't expect any wins in Florida. I do not blame anyone for not renewing season tickets. I am convinced that things can be much worse without Rahe, but also convinced we cant do any better than what we have seen during the past 9 seasons. Why does it take a Rahe coached team months to figure out how to win? Why cant his teams figure out how to win right off the bat like other up and coming teams? We can do worse without Rahe, but cant do better with him. Bovee needs to really get things figured out. I don't care how good of a recruit it is, how many stars etc. but if Rahe can't get these players to win, then its on Rahe. I am tired of the same crap year after year. "we have a tough schedule (hardly) to get us ready for league." "we just want to get better no matter who we play (you cant say that to fans when you're playing BYU or USU)." "We had some positives from that game (a 30 point blow out)." "We played a veteran team today." "We just came out flat." "Well, we had a good practice during the week." "They were more hungry than us today." "We are getting better." :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

Why cant a Rahe coached team get things done? I for one am no longer satisfied with beating up BSC teams, only to lose meaningful post-season games. His teams need to learn how to begin strong and finish even stronger. No purple kool-aid for me. No excuse to be (0-2) after today, yes Paul, "time to push the panic button."

Rahe laying on the excuses.... "I wanted to schedule a team (that could beat us). We needed to fight and our guys competed (Uh, nope...). They are veterans and been around forever. They will be very good this year. This is why I scheduled this game, because I knew they were going to be good, this will be our toughest team we see all pre-season. They are a good team, veteran team." "we are playing good teams and we are getting better and improving." "We play a complex system and it doesnt usually come around until December, its a work in progress" What is he talking about... :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Only lost one player last year, and James was a non-factor. Lets be real...

I think its more difficult to listen to Rahe than Paul... Can someone explain to me what is so complicated about looking over at flash cards for a "play" and then making a basket? What is so hard about playing man-to-man defense. What is so complicated about breaking a zone or press????

Maybe he just needs to numb down his "Complicated" system and just play ball.... So frustrated... :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I've been thinking some of the same things about Rahe for at least a couple of years now (as have a lot of us from what I read on here). The talent is there for the most part (recruiting)--can't complain with the likes of Lillard, Berry, etc.--but the coaching is not. Exhibit #1, it's awesome that Rahe recruited Lillard, but he couldn't even help a future first round drafted NBA player win a conference championship. The fact that Lillard never made it to the NCAA Tournament is a disgrace (of course I'm blaming Rahe here, not Lillard).

I remember when I used to be worried that someone was going to poach Rahe from Weber State. Now I wouldn't mind a change. I think you're right that Rahe has taken Weber State as far as he's going to take them. He has reached his ceiling, and I pray that this stagnancy doesn't become "good enough" for the school/administrators/athletic director, etc.

I'm not in the locker room or in the huddles, so I can't exactly say what Rahe should change (unless he is who he is and no changes will be made regardless), but I'd like to be excited about this team once in awhile. Two games in and I'm already "blah."

So Randy says his system is so complicated that it takes guys well into December to get it down. Well, I have just two questions.
(1) Did all the guys who were also the main players on last years team forget his system in the off-season. Of course they didn't, but if they really did then they are far too dumb to be playing ball at this level.
(2) So if it takes until late December or January to get the complex system down before they actually start executing it and winning, do they lose their understanding in the system when it comes to Conference tournament time and NCAA's? Is that how one explains the piss poor record against any team that is even average.
