We should know quite a bit about these SoZaggs. They have had the same guys for quite a while. ISU beat them last night. They seem to struggle a little on the road.

I expect a hard fought game.

The Bears struggle MIGHTILY on the road -- they average 15 points a game less on the road vs. home. They actually played pretty well against ISU last night, but turnovers got em. ISU scored 26 points off 13 UNC turnovers. And Unruh picked up four fouls in four minutes of play. Their little freshman PG is playing with a lot of confidence right now, and they have one of the deeper benches in the league. If Barden shows up with some energy, they'll give you a game, but I still expect the Wildcats to get the win.

Heard Coach Rahe on radio after the ND game, he was not totally happy with the energy and the play, especially at the start of 1st half. He think the team can get to where they should be within a couple games, the signs are there.

Hitting 24 of 27 free throws was a big help, along with Huff missing all four FT on a very questionable flagrant call? I could see if there was contact that they call the foul, but didn't see what deserved the flagrant call.

Joel is scoring with confidence, which he did not have in the Greeley game, and our posts are getting points in the paint. This should help our offense vs the Bears.

I'm hoping that we throw a zone at these guys, every once in a while. Pressure them a bit and take them out of their rhythm. We need to take the game to them and make them pay if they press us.

By the way, did you all notice that we scored often on our press attack last night. We only turned it over 10 times in the whole game, and we made our freebies. What are we going to bitch about now? :shocking:

We'll always have the officials ;-)

I've come to the conclusion that it's a waste of time griping about the refs. The BSC doesn't care or do anything about them, the NCAA won't take control of them, and if they get yelled at during a game they just get vindictive. I would say that we should just accept that they will be poorly trained and sometimes dishonest, that they are stubborn, refuse to listen to reason, and often vindictive. The honest and fair refs seem to be in the minority or just keep their mouths shut.

It's the way it is. It will not change. :coffee:

What happened to Barden?

The game was not as close as I thought it would be. I haven't seen the rebounding numbers yet, but it felt like we were losing that battle. Defense was solid most of the night, with the exception of losing track of #15 a couple of times.

And I must comment that tonight's officiating crew did a pretty decent job, very few tacky fouls called and they let the teams play, so hope we see this crew again.

Thought the same thing about them as I left tonight. The thing about good officiating is that both teams are able to make runs -- and a good game sees some scoring runs by both teams. When the officials over officiate (read Sac State) it is so difficult to make a scoring run as all the opponent has to do is take it wildly to the basket to get a foul. When you are unable to get any momentum, bad teams can hang around.

On another point, it was refreshing to see an opponent's coach who actually was coaching his players instead of riding the refs. Of course a coach can get PO'd at reffing at times, but this league has so many guys who just ride the refs like it's their only duty at the game (read Tinkle especially). Hill seemed in charge of his team and concerned about making the right moves to stay in the game.

We are starting to peak. Good to see Richardson get his shot going in, and Senglin was just bursting with confidence tonight -- that kid has come a long way. We need to take the same energy on the road now.

I agree about the officiating. That was one of the best crews we have had all year. Can we pack them up and take them with us on the road?

Please BSC, don't give us the wonks we had at SAC St. They didn't win or lose the game for anyone, but they were lost and confused most of the night. And please, no more refs that spend the whole night hugging and kissing the other team's coach. I don't care how good of friends they are off the court, it just doesn't look good and gives the other team the impression that they have no chance at a fair game.

Amen!

We held Barden, one of the top scorers and rebounders in the league, to 11 and 3, respectively. We didn't just contain him, we shut him down. That was an outstanding defensive job on him. He was so quiet in that game, I thought they must have left him home.

Way to go Wildcats!

If you look at it, most of Barden's points came after the game was decided. Joel and Kyndahl did a great job in shutting him down

The only thing that would have made Saturday night better, would have been if the student section would have started chanting Ute Reject when Lee was shooting his freebies (he missed them both anyway). At least his team did better visiting the Dee this time around then the last time he made an appearance at the Purple Palace.
