Spencer Johnson question

First of all I am actually pretty excited and happy with the new additions we have brought on. I believe next year we will be competitive for the top three or four spots in the Big Sky Conference. However this is something that has bothered me just recently. I noticed that Spencer just signed with BYU after one season at Salt Lake Community College. I read an article that he had several top offers before he signed with BYU. I would just like to know the story as to why he left Weber State after just a few weeks. I remember before he left on his mission thinking he was going to be a great player for Weber State. Just a gut feeling that I had and usually I'm more right than I am wrong about this sort of thing. I wish I knew the real story as to why he transferred after just a little while. I have a bad feeling that it's going to bite us in the ass. I can totally see Spencer having career nights against us in the games we play BYU. He seems like a great kid and I wish him well except for when he plays us of course haha but just really am curious as to what happened. He is obviously a great player.

From what I heard he wasn’t as good as many had expected him to be and he had intentions to leave WSU after 1 year anyway because he felt he was a P5 talent. I personally don’t think he will do much at BYU but it will be interesting to see.

I was told by the parents of another team member that he felt like the coaches did not pay him any attention. He felt forgotten, but the player whose parents said this, said that he was spoiled and expected to be treated like a superstar and when he wasn't he pouted about it.

Since so many guys have left recently, maybe the issue isn’t Johnson or his attitude at all.

Just the facts...., He is a good player, a valuable person, and has seen his share of adversity. He has also committed to 5 schools in the past couple of years, played for one of them and is now set to play for the 5th, BYU. I hope he does well there.

Just the facts for you Olds: BYU will be Johnson's 4th school (Weber, UVU, SLCC, BYU). I don't blame Johnson for leaving the terrible culture Randy Rahe has created here. He saw it sooner than the other guys who have left and continue to leave. Johnson continues to attract the attention of D1 coaches, so he obviously is good enough. Only time will tell how good. I know Johnson through friends and he is a really great guy, not what some have said here. He left UVU because Madsen didn't know who he was and wouldn't give him a scholarship, not because he thought he was better than everyone or was a pouter or a jerk. He thought he deserved a scholarship, and Madsen wouldn't give it to him at the time, which forced him to make a decision--stay at UVU and pay for school or get school paid for at SLCC. Changes the narrative about his story.

More facts: 16 guys have left Weber's program in the last 4 years. Why? Randy Rahe's culture, that's why.

He held an offer from Boise State but didn’t commit there.

I can't remember where I heard it now. But I heard, last summer, that he had committed to BSU. I just figured that he must have decommitted or that they withdrew the offer. Maybe it was just hearsay. I don't have proof of that now.
