It's official, along with the hiring of Mike Ferriter (former Griz player who spent the last couple of years as a grad assistant at UNLV)...

Idaho State football coach Mike Kramer has announced changes to his coaching staff. The ISU coach has hired Spencer Toone, a defensive graduate assistant at Utah State for the past two years to coach outside linebackers and Mike Ferriter, an offensive graduate assistant at UNLV to coach inside wide receivers and manage the running backs for the near future.

Kramer has announced that Matt Troxel has been reassigned to coach the offensive line and Roger Cooper will move from running backs coach to inside linebackers coach. Kramer will reassume the duties as kick teams' coordinator and two additional staff positions remain open, including the hiring of a defensive coordinator.

No offense to Troxel at all, but he has moved from skills position coach to coaching the offensive line. There is no way in hell that I will ever believe that offensive line is a place that he should be coaching at the college level. We are talking about a guy that never played offensive line. Playing at 5-9/165 for the Grizzlies, highly doubt that he ever played a down on the offensive line. Troxel is a stud and a great recruiter but why move him to offensive line? Maybe this is a change that will be cured AFTER spring ball. WOW!

I could see a sudden change from ST to go to Madison if invited/asked. Big 10 v. Big Sky. Hmm.

That's what I was thinking, John Clayton. Either that, or if USU names a successor from within, like the OC, then a positions spot might open up for him there. I wouldn't blame him either way. Same thing happened to us when Larry Lewis was coach. He hired Blaine Bennett, now the coach at Central Washington, as OC, but he ended up getting hired away by Purdue before he even started here.
