Here are the links to EWU football-related stories that ran this past week in The Spokesman-Review:

A review of Week One, plus Baldwin's goals for Week Two:

On Wednesday, the second of eight unit stories - the receivers, plus coverage of practice:

Also on Wednesday, announcement of, and reaction to, the Root TV schedule:

On Thursday, a short report from Wednesday's practice:

On Friday, the third of eight unit stories - the running backs:

On Saturday, a report on Friday's scrimmage:

Coming up next week, I will try to step things up a bit:
For Tuesday - a mid-point review and look ahead with Baldwin and other coaches;

For Wednesday - The fourth of eight unit stories - the O-Line, including some nice comments from coach Aaron Best, plus a practice report;

For Thursday - A report on Wednesday's practice, plus the fifth unit story - Special teams;

For Friday - Hopefully, a followup on the Root TV story (funny, Root is following me on Twitter, but won't return my phone calls :? ); FYI, there is no practice on Thursday, so no report

For Saturday - Friday practice report, plus the sixth unit story - the D-line;

For Sunday - A report on Saturday's scrimmage

And please follow me on Twitter: @srjimallen (I've been giving frequent updates at practices, scrimmages and from the office)

Wow this coverage is awesome! And you havent even "stepped it up" yet :D

I've bitched about the Spokesman before but finally they're giving EWU solid coverage and good website real estate to boot! This'll go a long way in keeping EWU in the minds of people and hopefully will contribute to another great year of attendance.

Thanks, can't thank you enough! Seems like we've been waiting for this kind of coverage for years... oh, wait, cause we have been. We appreciate it. :thumb: :clap:

Thanks, Jim, when we open the season with wins over the Vandals, Cougars, and the Griz, you will know we have deserved the extra coverage.

Fantastic coverage! A couple of interesting moves:

Returning letter winner David Gaylord has moved from defensive end to linebacker, but that may prove to be a change in scheme, not position. Other offseason position moves include Scott Burgett from safety to linebacker and Jakob Puglsey from linebacker to defensive line.

EWU Counts on Deep Defensive Line

"Top to bottom, we are extremely talented and extremely deep," said Sawyer, who compares this group with his 2008 unit that included Buchanan Award winner Greg Peach and All-Big Sky selections Lance Witherspoon and Jason Belford.

“The bar was set by the 2008 team, but this group as a whole is deeper, and has a chance to be as good, if not better.”
