Spokesman-Review coverage this year

First, I'd like to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed covering the EWU football team this season, and plan to do the same next year.

With the season still fresh in our minds, I'd like to hear constructive feedback on what you liked about the S-R's coverage (especially during the regular season), and what you would like to see improved.

That said, I probably won't have time to write more than the five stories a week we did in 2012, but I'm looking at emphasis.

For example, did you like the weekly player features, or would you prefer more Xs and Os, and more on the upcoming opponent? More on the rest of the Big Sky teams? More Tweets? More practice reports? A different day and time for our weekly Live Chat? You get the idea.

Please don't hesitate to respond; I'll do my best to consider your valuable opinions.

Sincerely,
Jim Allen

Loved the coverage this year Jim. The live chats were awesome and worked out well for me. I enjoyed the weekly player features but enjoy reading about our opponents as they come in as well. Thanks so much for your time and effort exposing Spokane to the great things that are going on in Cheney. Wish we could get more of Spokane to come to the games. I don't remember if you had an article on some of the traditions being started up in the tailgate areas or about the tailgater's but that might be a good draw for others to come to the games. There is a lot of good things going on in Cheney. Thanks so much Jim.

Yeah Jim. No offense to Steve Bergum and even Trimmer, but the coverage in the Spokesman this year has far surpassed any of our wildest expectations. Thank you so much for the hard work this year, I promise that it didn't go unnoticed. :notworthy:

I love the player profiles, personally. And even though i could never participate, I really liked going through the transcripts of the live chats. I also really like the tweets. Can't wait for Spring!

Jim, I wouldn't change anything. I thought everything was spot on and the best coverage we have every received. My only "criticism" would be that I wasn't able to participate in any of the live chats because of the time...but not sure if that could be changed at all.

I'm not sure that anything could be different but wanted to say thanks for the great coverage of the program this season. It has been far and away the best I have ever seen in 8 years of following the Eags. Again, thanks!

I echo what everyone else has already said. The coverage has been phenomenal, and I love the player profiles as well as the X's and O's of the upcoming opponent. Maybe more art (photos) to go with the great ink? :D

Here in the Tri-Cites we were privilged to see many of Jim's articles and some pics throughout the season....a first. Then last Sunday had a full front page color pic from the game and an article to boot. Then today had an article of seniors from the team and some other odds and ends...again front page. I believe Jim Allen gave EWU tons of creditability all season long and for that I thank him...Thanks Jim!!!!

Ditto all the comments above! It's been really great for those of us from out of town to be able to follow the team! Loved every single written word, tweet and pic and from talking with the players, they did too!

Jim: Great job! Your work is greatly appreciated, as is the added support from your organization!

I'll admit that it was me who caused us to lose to Sam Houston State, though. My bad, peeps. I always worked during the chats, but I'd go back and read them when I got home from work or the gym on Thursday afternoons. Last week, I forgot to check it. And, of course, we lost. :ohno:

These things are always tenuous, and even after sticking with my routing of shaving only on Monday morning, Monday evening, Wednesday morning, Wednesday evening, and Friday... AND listening to my lucky song "Red Dragon" by Swollen Members once and only once per winning karmic rules, I forgot about the chat.

As you can clearly see... the music and shaving kept us in it, but the chat cost us the win. I'll never fuck that up again.

Hello Jim;
Add me to the appreciative ones or the great coverage and lots of exposu re. I enjoyed the human interest stories about players. Next year more of the same and a little more about our coaches.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays

Jim,
I agree with all the positive responses from all on our blog. You have done an outstanding Job. Here is hoping we come in contact next year 2013, should the man up above thinks so. ;) ;) ;) Vic Wallace

I get 5 o'clock shadow by Noon. Since last Friday, I've just quit and am letting the beard grow.
