The article primarily talks about impact players left in the playoffs and those guys that have been playing great that we may not have heard about. They make their picks at the end, NDSU and Towson.

I think they are reading a lot into the 10 point Towson win over EIU and the closer then expected EWU win over JSU without their starting QB in the 2nd half. What they may not fully realize is if it had not been for our horrible turnovers in the redzone, it would have been a different looking game.

I still feel good about this game, but we are going to need to play well to win.

THE PICKS

Week 16 Record: 3-1 (.750)

Season Record: 633-222 (.740)

X-Predicted Winner

Dec. 20-21

All Times ET

FCS Playoff Semifinals

Friday, Dec. 20

New Hampshire (10-4) at X-No. 1 seed North Dakota State (13-0), 8 p.m. (ESPN2) - They have all been signed up for frequent flier miles from Fargo to Frisco, right?

Saturday, Dec. 21

X-No. 7 seed Towson (12-2) at No. 3 seed Eastern Washington (12-2), 2 p.m. (ESPNU) - The Tigers had enough of an answer for Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Now they need one for Vernon Adams.

Pretty simple game for us, really. We need to play for a full 60 minutes with high intensity, urgency, and meet each possession on both sides of the ball with desperation. Our D must keep towson's run game in check. The O must play with confidence and finish off drives. If we play like last time, we'll get beat badly. If we do the things I've mentioned, we'll be in great shape.

I have a funny feeling we're going to see a fired up, highly-motivated Eastern team on Saturday... It won't be a repeat of the ugliness we saw against Jax State. I don't make predictions about winning or losing or scores, but I will predict that we'll see the best of the Eagles on Saturday.

The one writer who cares and covers FCS football writes and says EWU is going to lose....big deal. Given that he's covering FCS football he has 15 other jobs to do aside from writing. Players and coaching aside, we've lost about 3 games or so at Roos Field. Towson will have to play their best game of the year on Saturday bar none to come in here and win. They lost to Delaware and Villanova...we lost to Toledo and Sam Houston State. I'm guessing that since Riley was double and triple teaming Pulu by game's end in Corvallis and Toledo started and stayed that way against him, Towson's big fella will have to run outside the tackles this week again and at that point he has to stay away from Hamlin. He'll get some yards but they better have some level of a passing game get to 40 points (mandatory), and have some sort of goofy no-show by EWU to have a chance...all on Roos Field and to get to the biggest game in any of these players lives. The only way that writer can conclude that Towson will win is by looking at the TV last weekend and going, "well gee....they sure looked good and well gee, they didn't look so good". If they come in and win it won't be on anything predictable on the front end. Oh and I am doing both my first post ever and first edit!! A friend showed me this on Friday night so let's get it going.

Solid first post and welcome. :thumb:

Like their HC. Guy is back were he played after many years perfecting his craft. Only fourth HC at Towson ever. Didn't want to read too much into their 8 game road win streak, but they beat three reasonable teams this season. Good line play and strong run game go a long way to helping a team win tough games on road. Of course, none of those were on the Inferno :-) Let's get the EWU v Towson thread going Screaming.

Based on last week I'd pick Towson too. EWU was lucky to win. Played their worst game since Sept. Good news is Towson's defense couldn't stop EIU.

Article was a little funny when talking about Towson's other back. EWU may "overlook"??? How many RB's in the backfield at one time I wonder? Anyway, struck me as humorous.

Quote edification:
"But while the Eastern defense puts its focus on West, freshman Darius Victor could sneak up on the Eagles. He's the CAA Football offensive rookie of the year and averaging nearly seven yards a carry. In Towson's quarterfinal-round win at Eastern Illinois, Victor gained 80 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. He has to be accounted for by Eastern."

Wasn't this the guy that refused to vote for Eastern after the 2010 Championship game because he said it wasn't legit due to the call on Mario Brown's infamous 4 the down run?

No, that was their SID. I actually wrote him an email when he was "outed" on AGS.
