SPRING BALL

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that spring ball officially starts today. Have any of you guys heard or seen anything interesting about football thus far?

I believe the first of the 15 spring sessions begins this friday. The spring season will end with the purple/white scrimmage on Apr 19.

The final scrimmage is supposed to start about noon on Saturday the 19th.

Spring ball starts on Friday March 21st. They are scheduled to start around 3 pm on the practice field. Saturday they will start about noon. For the next few weeks they are practicing on Tues and Thurs at 3 and Saturdays at noon.

On the quarterbacks Mac did not mention Barnes as a QB. From the press release above: "I like all three quarterbacks," said McBride. "Cameron grew up in a hurry last Fall and finished about as strong as any quarterback in the league and that’s why he was named the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ in the league. Brendon’s a big, strong, physical quarterback who compliments Cameron. Joel Hancock is going to be an excellent collegiate quarterback. He’s learning curve since returning last November has been excellent."

Guess he is out of the picture, wow a top 5 QB prospect not good enough to play for the 'Cats, big sky teams watch out...

OGDEN, UTAH - With a serious flu bug circulating, plus some nagging injuries which need a bit more time to heal, the Weber State football team has post-poned its start of 2008 Spring football drills until next week.

"Right now we are looking to begin on Tuesday but it we could extend that to next Friday depending how we are physically," said WSU head coach Ron McBride. "If we would have started today we probably would have had a total of six healthy offensive and defensive linemen."

McBride said he would make the final decision on Monday as to when the Wildcats would start. The annual Purple and White Spring game is set for Saturday, April 19. If they 'Cats start next Friday (Mar. 28) the Spring game would be moved to April 26th. Once practice starts, you have a 30 day window to complete your 15 practice sessions.

Mac said today that the day for the spring scrimmage will not be changed if it can be helped. The are probably going to start practice tomorrow and get all 15 in before the 19th of April.
