Curtis Shaw is back.
Curtis Shaw is back.
:wall:Quarterback Jeff Fleming, who was a second team all-Big Sky selection a year ago, will likely lead the offense. Fleming finished ninth in the Football Championship Subdivision in passing efficiency (147.42) and set the school record with 24 passing touchdowns. However, Fleming will sit out most of the spring with an elbow injury which leaves the door open for Tommy Edwards, Dominic Carmazzi and Garrett Safron to take snaps.

Also since Geringer isn't mentioned, I assume he will be redshirting?

Really? I read it but I don't beleive it. If he is back, that's good I guess. He's a good back, but werent there issues with this guy last season? I can't remember what they were exactly and am too lazy to research it right now (academics?)

Daaaaaaaaaaamn! Why can't we get a healthy QB?!?!
If this is the case then why did coaches continue to play him after the injury? Why would you play a QB who can’t throw the ball? (I thought this was brought up before and I’m too lazy to look through the old threads.)SactoHornetAlum said:I believe its that elbow injury he suffered in the Causeway in the rain. Which is why he couldn't throw after that in the later part of the 3rd and into the 4th quarter. He doesn't get injured, we win that game (reminds me of the 2003 Causeway, if Lead hadn't got injured, we would have won that one too!).
Disagree. Our backup QB led the team to a game leading TD drive with less than 2 minutes left. The defensive coordinator & coaches cost us that one. They had to drive the length of the field and I think they got about 70 yards on 3 draw plays. Another perfect example of a "prevent" defense preventing a win. :thumbdown:SactoHornetAlum said:He doesn't get injured, we win that game (reminds me of the 2003 Causeway, if Lead hadn't got injured, we would have won that one too!).
ChiCity said:He's every bit as good as Tiawan Jones and faster.

On a more concerning note, I sure hope Fleming can fully recover from last season’s injury. We have better depth at QB then we did last season when MBT went down but Fleming really improved as the season progressed. I’d really like to see that continue in spring and fall camp so he hits the season ready to go.

No, he got popped in the head in that Western Oregon game and was lost for the rest of the year with that concussion.
Any way you slice it; there is no excuse for playing a QB who is not capable of throwing the ball.StungAlum said:Maybe they kept him in after the injury due to the rain, there wasnt much passing going on anyway and we know Fleming has a motor.
Interesting comment on Gordon, his career here has been riddled with injuries and I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to call it a career due to health reasons.ChiCity said:A couple of interesting things in/out the article. Deonte Gordon is not mentioned as returning, and Fred Kelley is now the O line coach. Good to have Shaw back. He's every bit as good as Tiawan Jones and faster. Hopefully he has his head on straight this year. He was in class all year and has a chance to show what he can do.

I don't remember that hit, even though I was there. However, I do remember him getting roughed up at Stanford.

Good catch with Kelley. Klayton Adams was the OL coach last season and he is no longer listed on the coaches website. It would have been his 3rd year here. I thought someone on here said he was going to be the OC? Any idea what happened here?

Not sure how Shaw matches up with TJ. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Adams was offered a position at san jose state and if rumor has it true he is being payed twice as much as he was at sac so I cant blame him for taking the opportunity. Also I have always been a little confused as to why so many people on this board assumed shaw wasnt playing because of grades. I am not saying he is a scholar athlete but he was around the team all year and it was the concussion that kept him off the field.
